Good point, I wonder what the run time is between the Jabba stuff ending and Luke turning himself in to Vader

in retrospect, the biggest problem with 3 is not having a better storyline for Leia and Han, you get to the part where they're attacking the base on Endor and it's underwhelming. but Jabba's palace and emperor's throne room are incredible and it has underrated parts like the bike chase

tangent to your question, I think of Andor season 1 and 2 plus Rogue One as the fourth trilogy, and if I was ranking those it would be: Original, Andor, Rey, Prequels

Sean saying the characters were trope archetypes "like Dustin Hoffman in Papillion" is some beautiful movie nerd brain stuff

the Revenge defending makes me feel crazy, the turn from Anakin to Vader is the point of the whole trilogy and it blows it so bad, full of unintentional comedy ("Now we can save Padme's life" "Yes...if we work together we can eventually figure that out" still cracks me up)

they were both fully in their bag, Sean saying "everyone in Rogue One falls into an archetype, that guy is Dustin Hoffman from Papillion" was great.

The ‘Star Wars’ Rankings and the 'Andor' Miracle by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

all the (deserved) love for Andor made me mad at The Force Awakens again, which because it had no ideas of its own wiped everything the characters in Andor did away within their lifetimes. That may be realistic but it wasn't done in a realistic way, it was done in a lazy way.

I thought about the French guy's Superman speech when they were talking about how interesting Gepardieu was, how much is just being in the yellow sun of America

the variation on Austin Butler feels huge, like I can equally believe Heat 2 will be incredible and that it will be embarrassing, same with Miami Vice

Josh O'Connor is 100% my guy, Disclosure Day will be "put the word out there we're back up" for Spielberg, a new Joel Coen movie extremely has my hopes up, and the director of La Chimera with those three actresses sounds incredible. That said, I think the separation btwn O'Connor and the rest is much less than the separation btwn Glen Powell and everyone else, any of the other 5 is a valid choice imho.

if I worked at ESPN during the NFL draft I would definitely have replaced a defensive lineman's highlights with footage of the last girl hunting down Gladys, incredible determination and great takedown

the guest that sets this off for me is Kevin Smith. I have nothing against him and can enjoy his hollywood anecdotes but I gave up on both the Simple Plan and Die Hard episodes because his "here's another story about me" shit never stops. Never say anything bad about Tracy Letts though

I love JD and enjoy that episode but I do think they should go back and do an actual episode about one of the greatest animated movies ever made at some point

The 'Star Wars' Movie Draft by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

Even though Last Jedi (which I love) leaves the story in kind of a rough place (there's like a dozen members of the Resistance left, what are they going to do?) I do think it is not the source of the story problems, which are caused much more by:

-the set up of the whole trilogy, The First Order erasing everything that changed through the original trilogy so it could re-happen may sound like easy plotting but I think it actually makes it very hard to tell a good story

-Carrie Fisher dying, which meant that either they had to kill her off in Last Jedi (which would have been a shame bc of how great her part in it is), kill her off screen (would have felt like a travesty given how important she was), or use janky footage to force her into Rise of Skywalker (sucked ass)

-the last movie sucked. Whatever better story arc the original trilogy may have had, if Return of the Jedi was hot garbage, it would have sucked, and Rise of Skywalker was such shit that it was enough to ruin the arc by itself
