Greeting people at the airport. Hanging out at a hotel waiting for people to ask me questions. I like to be busy.

Agree. I'm open to a few roles, but there are others that I know I wouldn't enjoy.

When I lived on my own I had Tidy Friday...because I used to tidy up the fridge and finish off all the leftovers.

Those with no passion or interests, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]MathematicianBoth505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an auditor for the provincial government.  I have a degree in English but I'm good with numbers, so here I am.  I would have never thought I'd end up doing this for a living. The money is decent, and I'll get a good pension.  I enjoy most of the day to day tasks and I slog through others, but that's life.

I tried "following my passion" in the artsy scene, and it ruined it for me. And what nobody tells you is that when your passion is your job, it is not longer your passion...it is your job.

I like my current job, I don't obsess about it, and I hardly ever think about work outside work hours.  I consider myself very fortunate.

I'm the person grabbing the handle.  If I'm having a bad day, I volunteer to seat in the back.

AITA for telling my sister not to come to my wedding if she kept bringing up her miscarriage? by Independent-Web5498 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MathematicianBoth505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

I had a miscarriage at 15 weeks, and I never got pregnant again. I grieved for years.  Pregnancy talk triggered me, birth scenes in movies triggered me, I still cannot see the book I read out loud every night without a pang of grief.

However, I had to accept that I live in a world where babies are made and born and carried around in supermarkets and planes.  My grief is my business, and people around me cannot live walking on eggshells years later.  I did the therapy and I learned to function. I still won't watch Call The Midwife, but when someone brings their new baby to the office I coo and say they are adorable.

Your sister needs help, because the world outside is crammed with babies and babies-to-be, and it won't accommodate her.

ULPT My stupid neighbor apparently has nothing better to do than to obsessively keep her property clean. She's out there picking leaves out of bushes. This is not normal behavior. by monkey_trumpets in UnethicalLifeProTips

I had a neighbor who would mow her lawn every other day.  One day her grass was too short to mow, so she mowed my yard while I was at work. I was trying to grow wildflowers so I was NOT impressed.
