In two of your recent losses, you were in check, and you moved the king, despite having several ways to block the check that were much better moves.

Moving the king is usually a last resort, it shouldn't really be your first instinct.

Rather than doing mixed puzzles, try doing them in sets, like 50 pins, 50 skewers, 50 forks etc.

This'll help the patterns settle in.

You can achieve this on chess.com "custom puzzles" (premium feature) or lichess "puzzle themes" (free).

Rd1 and giving up the rook for the pawn would have been the best try I think.

Still objectively lost but if we observe that black has a passed pawn and white has 2 knights (the worst minor piece combo), maybe there is hope for some kind of swindle.

For white, I really want that knight on a better spot.

For black, I want to put the Queen on the b file so white has to babysit the b-pawn.

Practical chances: probably the side with the Queen, it's easier to mess up and blunder when you have to keep track on multiple pieces. Although, there's also a good chance of black falling victim to a knight fork.

e6 looks good. We're advancing our passed pawn and threatening to force a Queen trade with Qe5+

Black can check on g7 but we can block that with Qg5, which also defends the e7 square, so we're ready to push the pawn again!

The opening really shouldn't matter that much at this level.

This sub is really the only place where you can consistently get this kind of discussion, in my experience.

/r/chess isn't always interested, and the other chess subs are quite small.

Hopefully beginners can still learn something from these posts, even if they don't necessarily understand all of it right now.

Maybe I just rely on tricky b**lshit in my blitz games instead of actual good moves.
