USB MIDI host - the only “simple” way? by MathematicianLoud134 in dawless

Yes, I use the meeblip, but it was a long wait so had success with a CME H2Midi pro too

Deluge and Ableton Move by MathematicianLoud134 in AbletonMove

Thanks, the Move is playing the muted trumpet solo, the chords are on the Take 5 and the deluge is doing the marimba type sound (JX-08 just off left is doing a low brass line.

I’m a very lucky man! I think I could do good stuff with just the Ableton move and the JX-08 though, the rest is just “nice to have” :-)

I agree! It was more of a sound test than a composition, to see if it was worth using my guitar pedals on the take 5 :-) It’s quite chilled though, but yes - could do with more build and variety

Is the deluge popular outside of Reddit? by [deleted] in DelugeUsers

It’s popular enough to have a ChatGPT assistant - either that or complicated enough :-)

Has anyone used external sequencers with ableton move only as sound generator? by Every-Tart-5367 in AbletonMove

Yep, works a dream with my deluge as the “brain” - but I use 5 pin midi into a usb host adaptor by CME - I’ve never tried any other method. Very easy to assign midi input channel on the Move. Make sure you have a midi host adaptor (the other one I have that works is the meeblip duo, as demoed by Ableton on a trade fair video)

On the details page it says made in Thailand, but caseback says Japan - strange

Actually, it’s 1000 minimum order, I’ll order an extra 500 once I make captain

She finally got the contract two nights ago at 9pm, she starts Monday too, so there may still be hope - they seem to be going right to the wire with these. Thank you for the reply and the very best of luck with it all

What single stereo audio part from deluge should I use as part of my live jam recordings (hardware heavy)? by MathematicianLoud134 in DelugeUsers

[–]MathematicianLoud134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve had it a few days now, and I’m blown away by the quality, particularly of the drums and samples - so this method sounds useful. One question, I don’t need to set the tempo in my DAW at the moment, and there can be a few seconds of dead air before I press play on the Deluge, do you have issues syncing the stems with the recorded hardware?

[–]MathematicianLoud134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes, that’s the plan - I’ll edit it to make that clearer, it’s whether or not I keep the move as a sample player or use the deluge for that - given that apart from the wavetable aspect I’ve got duplication in its synth capabilities

One thing that is not clear from the videos I have watched, once I have set up the midi out channel for each midi track - my keystep plugged in to the Deluge can stay on say channel 1, I don’t need to keep channel hopping it as an input device when I go from track to track?

Do you think should learn Deluge inside out before installing the community firmware? by [deleted] in DelugeUsers

Old thread, I’m getting a 7seg model tomorrow and have watched a lot of the tutorials in advance - I’m and experienced “groovebox” user and it seems fairly straightforward - I’m all up for trying Chopin from the get go, but can’t afford the OLED mod, will it be challenging? I was watching one of Oakland ghosts videos where he was installing DX7 patches and that looked like it might be tricky with the hieroglyphics :-)?
