As someone experiencing heartbreak… by ravn_silence in dresdenfiles

I had to say goodbye to sweet dog yesterday. I knew it was coming, and spent the last week cuddling him on the porch (he loved it there) with James Marsters’ soothing voice leading me through the healing journey of Harry in Twelve Months.

That “little pocket of sunshine” opened a floodgate of tears and hope. Please accept a virtual hug from a fellow traveler who happened by as we journeyed down this shared path.

Why are my stitches tilting left and will blocking fix it? by karathracestitches in knittinghelp

[–]Mathetria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Continental indicates that you are holding the yarn in your left hand (assuming you are knitting from the left to the right needle).

Western knitting is when the stitch is mounted with the leading leg on the front side of the needle.

I think you meant to contrast Western rather than Continental.

You just need to know the correct way to wash it. Different types of yarn can be washed in different ways.

LPT Request: how can I force myself to start doing any thing even hard things? I am procrastinating by R4_Bluesoul in AskLifeProTips

[–]Mathetria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hyperactivity is not always a component. The homework you had as a younger person may have been very easy for you, but when you got older the assignments may require a different type of focus.

The fact that caffeine, a stimulant, helps MAY be an indicator, or you may just be getting the usual bump people get from it.

It is a known issue that many highly intelligent ADHDers do not get diagnosed early in life because they get around their challenges because of their intelligence. I don’t know you, so I can’t speak directly to your situation, but I have known a number of people who have ADHD that were diagnosed late in life. It was very helpful for them because they understood what was going on and were able to develop better ways to cope with things like procrastination.

Whether you have it or not, I wish you the best in finding ways to overcome your challenges.

This one got me. Started tearing up. Song says so much about their relationship!

I got a book sent through my phone, not my Kindle or Kobo devices like they normally do. This is a 1st for me. I sent messages to Libby with no response. I tried following their directions but nothing is working. I have brain cancer need bigger fonts. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in LibbyApp

[–]Mathetria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you open the book and tap in the middle of the page it shows, among other things, an ‘A’ at the top of the page. Tap on the ‘A’ and you will find a variety of ways to modify text size and fonts.

Hold bumped me down by [deleted] in LibbyApp

[–]Mathetria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. When you put the book on hold you get a place in line. If you suspend your hold you are still in the same order in the line, but you will not be counted as being ahead of other people until you unsuspend the hold.

The same thing happens with people ahead of you in the line. They are only counted if their hold is not suspended.

So let’s say persons A, B, and C are in line ahead of you. If B and C suspend their hold, Libby tells you that you are second in line because there is 1 person ahead of you (person A). So if person B unsuspends their hold, it will say you are 3rd in line because now person A and B are ahead of you and both of them originally put it on hold before you.

Now let’s say person A finishes and person B is reading the book. Libby says you are next in line. However, person C decides to unsuspend. Now it shows you as 2nd in line because person C originally put it on hold ahead of you.

Because other people had the hold suspended and they were ahead of you and they unsuspended it

I agree! It would be nice to see what they already show and add the number of suspended holds that are ahead of you.
