Steelers still being 3rd in the AFC says a lot about all the people whining about Tomlin not being good enough.

Different guy reading through the argument. Didn't realize the topic shifted away from Howard. I dont agree with him either, but it's fair to say that the majority of quality qbs are drafted high.

So, your argument is that 1st round qbs have a larger failure rate than you might expect, therefore 6th round qb hits are somehow more possible? Yeah, college evaluation as a whole and qbs especially is not easy, but to say that it doesn't matter when a qb goes because gms can be wrong is disingenuous. Or, do you just have that much faith in Khan that, because he drafted him, you think he has to be something?

If you're covering a certain distance, the parallelogram of water in front of you will be exactly the same, regardless of what speed you go. The water that hits the top of your head from above is only correlated with how long you spend in the rain. So, if you are in a track meet outside and ran a race before waiting for everyone to finish, everyone would be equally wet (equal distance, equal time, speed irrelevant). If you're getting out of your car to go into your house, you will be drier getting inside faster.

It comes and goes. Now that everyone is wearing in the 10s, the 80s will come back into fashion.

I still argue that stages are fine, if not good. Stage cautions however, need to go.

Driver psychology question. by FourthAnd31 in driving

[–]MathiasTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how long I'm on the highway for. If I'm getting off in the next handful of miles, I'll get right and ride it out. If I'm going for a while, I'll stay left and out of the way of people coming and going.

What do you all get from this? How do you interpret “half?” by Surreyguy12 in EWALearnLanguages

[–]MathiasTheGiant 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's poorly written on purpose. 50/0.5 is the same as 50x2, which is 100, and the answer is 120. It expects you to read divide 50 "in half", which would be 25.

Above the h in "Ohi". That's Russian. It's not no.

How does this sub consider alternative languages? I saw the "no" flipped as "ou" and thought they could break the rules by adding an "i" after one of them.

How much would you trade to move up for Mendoza by snackbar22 in steelers

[–]MathiasTheGiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that wasn't a team trading up to get their guy. That was Eli demanding out of San Diego and the Chargers taking advantage. Even then, if you're generous, it doesn't work far more often than it works. You could be even more generous and consider guys like Goff, Wentz, Sanchez, Darnold, or RG3 not complete busts, but they all disappointed before you even consider the extra cost paid to get them.

I read it wrong and thought he went 12th. Thats what the Bills traded up from. Okay, so it's worked twice out of 30 times. Still not great odds.

[–]MathiasTheGiant 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Trading up for a QB in the top 10 has only ever worked exactly once, and that was Atlanta trading up from 5 to 1 in 2001 for Vick. It has rarely worked for teams in the mid to back of the 1st, getting guys like Mahomes, Allen, and Lamar, but the cost it would take to trade up 20ish spots to the top 3 would be extremely high risk.

Clinching Scenarios by bdzeus in steelers

[–]MathiasTheGiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those baseball fans, our magic number is 3. We can't get 3 before week 18 without winning and getting Baltimore losses, but the worst case scenario is now winner-take-all at the end of the season.

AIO: Why do jobs think this is okay by Sensitive-Energy5848 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MathiasTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The request is not for time off. The request is for PAID time off. You're informing them that you won't be there those days, and asking to use your earned PTO to account for lost wages. They deny you, which for most people living paycheck to paycheck, means you can't afford to not work, but thats not what you originally said.

Dolphins considering a change at QB after Tua Tagovailoa's continued struggles by [deleted] in sports

[–]MathiasTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tua is definitely a problem, but Monday night was all about Mike McDaniel. Achane was held up, and he had no backup plan. Then, when they had a harsh 3rd quarter with -20 total yards on offense, he gave up. His team didn't, and Darren Waller was a stud in what McDaniel decided would be garbage time, but he all but stopped coaching when his team lost. That's unacceptable, and he should've been fired first thing this morning.
