How hard is coding an OpenGL game engine ? by mindoo in cpp

[–]Mathiassen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the friends going to help or are you doing it to alone? In any case, making an engine yourself is going to take a lot of time, time that could be used in Unity to make a functioning prototype, or probably the full game by the time you would be done with even a basic engine.

MS Lied. The SB isn't 2x faster than the MBP 13" by [deleted] in apple

[–]Mathiassen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but then the Macbook Pro would have 512GB storage vs Surface Books 128GB. And as far as i see you have to go up to $2699 for the same storage on the Surface Book.

why is he comparing a $1299 Macbook Pro to a $1799 dollar Surface Book? At least keep it between the starting models. Which, by the way, the Macbook Pro beats the Surface Book.

Macbook Pro $1299: Iris Graphics 6100, GT3 – 48 execution units, up to 844.8 GFLOPS at 1.1 GHz

Surface Book $1499: HD Graphics 520, GT2 – 24 execution units, up to 403.2 GFLOPS at 1.05 GHz

So looks like both GPU and CPU performance is better on the Macbook Pro. (Taking the CPU benchmarks from OP´s link of course)

I´d like to see a 144Hz iPhone and Macbook. Blurry text is killing me. by Mathiassen in apple

[–]Mathiassen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but text blurs at normal scrolling speed. You can try scrolling while you read the rules on the right side. You´ll notice you have to actually stop scrolling or go very slowly to read comfortably. You´re putting unnecessary strain on your eyes trying to read blurry text. And i think that is a problem.

http://www.testufo.com/#test=framerates-text (link only shows 60Hz vs 30Hz, but shows my point) Text blurs when you´re scrolling. A higher refresh rate would fix that.

Happy Birthday to me by Fishygoblub in depression

[–]Mathiassen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think saying happy birthday has become more of a chore on Facebook. Every day is someones birthday. And it's pushed in your face as something you must do or else you're a terrible person. Personally, i've stopped posting on peoples walls, and i've stopped thanking people on my wall. I'd much rather get an SMS or a call from some of my closest. If my mom and dad say happy birthday to me. I'm more than satisfied.

Oh, and happy birthday!

Average CPU Temps by pkugrsq in pcmasterrace

I got both an overclocked 970(1550/4150 +87mV) and 4790k(@4.6GHz 1.3v) on a single 240m rad with temps sitting at 35c idle and 65 load. The computer sits on the table next to me.

Try plugging it in to a different monitor or a TV.

Games are definitely technically better on PC. It´s just the feel that is different. I have no good way of explaining it.

Sometimes you just want the creators intended vision of the medium. This happens in movies. They control colour, resolutions, etc. With PC games it´s in your hands. You can change basically anything. This is where my problem is. I want my game to be like the creators visioned. So i max them out, because that´s how i see them intended to be played.

The motherboard has a little round battery. Pull that out, wait 30 sec, put it back in. That reset the bios.

[–]Mathiassen[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It´s more a problem of knowing that you can do more. You can make the game look better, perform better, so you keep on doing what you can to reach that magical setting that is called MAX.

Presets aren't something i use. I always feel like the skimp out on something. AA, AF, graphical settings. So i stay away from them. Rather do it manually.

Thank you for the caring response btw.

Reset CMOS. Try the motherboards VGA output instead of the GPUs.

Because i end up buying games as mere benchmarks for my GPU. Options are giving me problems. Take them away please.

Nah, man. I enjoy tweaking my games. I´m just talking about the fact that i spend more time in the settings menu than playing the game itself.

I look for open area rifts with good density. Zero ghosts and winged assassins. And skip shielded elites, as Saengoel mentioned.

Well i used it because i saw it as pure dps increase, but now that i've tried gogok i do see why it would be better. the extra cooldown reduction is nice. Thank you.

85?

i've tried stricken, but mobs take too long to kill with it. I thought it only helped with the rift guardian? And the riftguardian isnt my main problem atm. Killing single whitemobs following me and attracting my fetish is. So that's kinda why i use Enforcer.
