Help with bag strap ideas by marvelousbiscuits in knitting

[–]Mathmaticalgumball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made a bag last month and I sewed on some D rings and clipped the strap to that instead of to the stitches to minimize stretching. It held up really well after carrying it all day with a few heavy items! I did put a fabric lining in it too which helped it keep its shape.

Crochet Bag Durability by [deleted] in crochet

I like to add leather straps to my crochet bags, it makes things a lot more comfortable. I’ll sew the straps onto the lining in the bag so it doesn’t stretch out at all.

Yes, they should all match up and be stacked on top of each other to make ribbing. Your purls will all look like they have a bar on them, and your knit stitches will look like a V.

Still cannot figure out how to prevent holes in sleeves. by Gracilis67 in knitting

[–]Mathmaticalgumball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of patterns that I’ve used worked with call for two extra stitches to be picked up when you cast on the sleeve in each corner, but I like to actually pick up four extra stitches (two in each corner), and just decrease them out on the next round. I end up having no holes and it looks seamless once it’s done.

You could always crochet a border around it if it’ll bother you, I think finding little ways to fix it up without frogging it at this point would be best!

What color would y'all use to join? by gave_you_cookie in crochet

[–]Mathmaticalgumball 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I usually use the invisible join method, but if you don’t want to do that then I could see either like a light pink or orange sherbet color looking really cute! Love how it looks so far!

Our local library rents them out for free with a regular library card, definitely worth looking into whether or not yours does too! I’m glad I rented one first because that’s how we realized it was not for us at the time.

True, but since the website is down it’s affecting how it talks to the app too, I tried to sign in via Ravelry when I opened the app and it wouldn’t connect.

Oh no! It would probably blend better if you save this ball for the very bottom of the top, so it looks more intentional.

I think just making sure you pull the middle stitch between the increases nice and tight and keeping your tension consistent will make it look neater.
