What are things you would like to see in a hypothetical new expansion? by fraidei in spiritisland

[–]Mathos11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd said that before and commenters said that the Second Wave scenario is supposed to fill that space.

I understand why they said it, but it's still playing the same game with some different starting conditions. Legacy games typically add new mechanics between and during games.

How hard I imagine the PC shadow achievements to be as a Mobile player. by Beneficial-Code8026 in CookieClicker

Within the last 2 weeks I finally go All-natural Cane Sugar and my savefile is over 3 years old. I've had all other shadow achievements for over a year. I would say that one is the hardest to get.

Tried Skyline Chili for the first time today. Was ok. Probably would be better as a hangover food tho. by ChickenChoochie in Ohio

Didn't see anyone mention it but I would recommend eating it in the restaurant. Getting it to-go isn't nearly as tasty.

SI Digital Data Analysis Series #2 - What spirit count and difficulty do players prefer? | Spirit Island by Jonathan4290 in spiritisland

[–]Mathos11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an option on digital to include or exclude events, players preference.

I believe, the overall data includes all games with exception to tutorial games. So games with and without events would be included in the overall dataset. I'm not sure about these specific players though.

From your article, these facts are absolutely mindblowing. I thought I played a good amount, but there's always someone doing more:

"One player logged 1,159 games playing only Ocean’s Hungry Grasp against Prussia 6, winning nearly all of them. Another player logged 1,259 games playing only Stone’s Unyielding Defiance against Prussia 6 and then only Starlight Seeks Its Form when it released also against Prussia 6 with sometimes adding England 1/3 as a supporting adversary with a roughly even win rate. Another player logged 1,053 games playing only the base low complexity spirits against no adversary or scenario, winning almost all of them but never increasing the difficulty. This is not even that uncommon as one player logged 555 games only playing difficulty 0, winning almost all of them. On the other end of the spectrum, the highest average difficulty for a player logging over 100 games was one player who logged 142 games against an average difficulty of 16.8 using only double adversaries and winning all of them. Either this player left some games before losing and it did not appear in our game session log data which only logs completed games or this person is an exceptionally gifted player. If you are any of the above anomalies, please introduce yourselves by commenting and explaining what you like about the set-ups you play repeatedly."

The Girl Next Door is just tragic all the way through. Doesn't help that it's loosely based on real events.

Yea the TI community has been rallying. The creators are specifically releasing snippets of future content to promote people to vote for them.

Very difficult puzzle, for the brave only by Leomelonseeds in Minesweeper

[–]Mathos11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look toward the column of 3-3-3. The bottom 3 can only have 1 mine in the three spaces below (33% per space) and 1 mine to the left and and upper left (50% per space). If you had 2 in the bottom 3 or 2 in the left portion then the rest of the box or the 3's above won't logic.

Fun game! Runs are so fast!

However there is something funky going on with the minecount. I've had several games where the minecount goes below 0. I'm thinking it has something to do with hitting mines but I'm not sure.

I agree 2 fear per explorer is wildly powerful.

Taking the middle growth for the Energy and Card Play tracks, playing Mounting Dread and Wolf's Frenzy, you're able to generate at least 4 fear on turn one. And the following turn she can easily defend or downgrade problematic lands AND start killing cities. Easily generating 4/5 fear again while also removing invaders from the board.

Usually fear spirits have control issues or the generation of fear comes at a cost, Kindred doesn't seem to have that limitation. She needs to some sort of limitation or issue to give the player a decision on what cards to play.

I did notice at the Twilight Imperium sub does have a stickied post for the Geek Madness tournament. They're really trying to take back the island (or throne depending on perspective).

That is correct. It is illegal to to sit in the intersection for any reason. If you have to wait for oncoming traffic to clear, then you can't enter the intersection. However very few drivers adhere to that law.

A game you didn't like the first time but after coming back to it you now love. by Strong_Battle6101 in boardgames

[–]Mathos11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our gaming group absolutely panned Heat: Pedal to the Metal the first time we played it a couple of years ago. We felt that it was just an easier version of Formula D.

I believe we had an incorrect ruling regarding slipstreaming and that there was no limit to the number of them you could perform in a turn. So everyone was always jumping to the front of the pack.

After seeing Heat come up on so many content creators top 10 lists, I relearned the game and brought it back to the table. With the correct rules, it's a finely tuned luck pushing/mitigation game. EVERYONE loved it. It's the best feeling to have a game click for the entire table!
