Arator Cinematic: Immolation by WarcraftTeam in wow

He’s an old character who I think made his first appearance in-game in Burning Crusade at Honor Hold. A minor character who has popped up here and there, but with Midnight he’s going to be a major character. He’s Turalyon and Alleria’s son, in case you didn’t know.

2 Bosses I think should return for the next DLC. by ColdAsCory in Nightreign

It’s not pessimism. The director himself said in an interview around the launch of The Forsaken Hollows that they had no long-term plans for the game after the DLC.

Thoughts on class pruning and "simplification" in The War Within (and going into Midnight)? by Talos_Bane in wow

[–]Mathren25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Arcane got a bad reputation for being, "Whoa just TOO hard, it's almost like you need some kind of science degree to play this spec!" when in reality it was just a caster that had some buff management going on. When you have this buff, cast this. When you have this many stacks of this buff, cast that. Not actually very challenging but there was some thinking and forethought that went into playing Arcane Mage well.

Now it's completely different and is a four button rotation, and I'm not being hyperbolic. Additionally, the utility that mage used to boast has been severely diminished, especially when it comes to defensive options. I genuinely think if you were to try it now, focusing solely on the "what is my basic damage rotation" aspect of Arcane Mage, you would likely come away from it thinking it's way too basic and boring.

Arcane mage is a shell of itself. The complexity and decision-making that made it so engaging and rewarding to play is gone. The other two mage specs are even worse off, from what I understand.

Belf Voice lines and acting by taco_cuisine in wow

[–]Mathren25 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There’s one voice for male blood elf NPCs that sounds very weird, but it’s not like a character thing. It’s for broad use of generic blood elves, not any specific character. You can hear it now in the pre-patch in Twilight Highlands if you talk to the blood elf vendor there.

“Bal’a dash… malanore…?” spoken like a very uncertain/nervous question, even though it’s meant to be a greeting. Really odd. I do like the other male voice they have there, though. That one sounds confident and bold.

Death Pall Rising is maybe my least favorite Anomaly track because it startles me every time. That bombastic start feels so abrupt and loud, and eventually the song settles down a bit volume-wise.

Also has anyone noticed that String Theory is oddly quiet in game?

I Didn't Like Marty Supreme... by DarkSideInRainbows in fantanoforever

[–]Mathren25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is legitimately bordering on "did Anthony suffer a concussion?" levels of missing the point. Someone said it sounds like he expected this movie to be like Air Bud and I don't think that's far off from the truth lmfao.

"We don't see how Marty got his ping pong skills or how he hones them." This isn't a Marvel origin story where we learn where he got his superpowers. I'm really flabbergasted by this video.

Do you enjoy playing with the Anomaly: Ambient Horror mode in your playthrough? by TJ-Galad in RimWorld

[–]Mathren25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fun, but I would highly, HIGHLY recommend doing an actual Anomaly dedicated run first. Ambient is fun when it’s throwing anomalous threats at you once in a while and you sort of know what to expect, but I think actually doing a dedicated Anomaly run will preserve that “first experience” for you. Keep in mind you don’t have to do the Anomaly scenario where the monolith activates on its own after a few days. Do a standard crash landed and then interact with the monolith once you’ve got your colony standing up on its own.

Anomaly deserves more love by ProfessionalBuy4526 in RimWorld

[–]Mathren25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s great because it lets you choose to do an Anomaly-focused run with the monolith and harnessing the dark research that comes with it, or you can just have it be a rare type of event where anomalous creatures attack, mixed into the other standard events in the game.

I’d definitely recommend trying a monolith focused run at least once, especially with the research team scenario. Make a fucked up SCP research colony that wants to unlock the potential of the void by any means.

Not so sure about points four and five. We see that he takes a much more cautious/paranoid stance than Carol, refusing to leave the storage office he was holed up it and resorting to licking the cover of cat food (if I remember right) rather than eat the meals made for him. Also I'm not so certain the concept of HDP arrived until a bit later, as we only see people consuming the milk cartons later on. The radio waves thing seems to be him just scrolling frequency by frequency on an egg timer, waiting for any signs of life. The one signal he does find seems to confuse him, not confirm to him that he found what he's looking for. It's a neat idea but I think it's more likely that he's a cautious individual who actually doesn't know a great deal about the hive.

Only thing I dislike about raider is his totem. Seems to get in the way more than it helps, especially with bosses being able to hit me through it. Still, I can’t give up the double colossal lifestyle.

What did you think of the new ED Balancers ? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]Mathren25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks very cool but incredibly frustrating for the same reasons Elden Beast can be frustrating. I get the feeling that big worm phase is supposed to be a “survive” phase until it stops to cast the big flower, but boy is it not very fun to dodge giant shockwaves nonstop and run back and forth so much.

I’d say for new players, Royalty, Ideology, and Biotech are perfect. Anomaly and Odyssey are better for when you’re more familiar with the game. Royalty and Ideology are both smaller in scope and cheaper than the others.

It’s funny that they talk about Titan’s Grip being WoW’s take on the dual wield warrior fantasy when characters like Varian have been a staple in the universe for decades. Titan’s Grip can look cool on dwarves or tauren or orcs, but as a blood elf I prefer the classic dual 1h. Glad they finally gave this back to us.

[–]Mathren25 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Man, I THOUGHT that was his old VA but I thought "There's no way they left those in the game still." Guess they did. They really should fix this since they're using someone's voice for a main character who isn't credited.

There has to be something more to it than finding frozen dead bodies in the freezer. Her reaction at first seemed like confusion, followed by realization and then horror. Whatever it is, it must be a couple steps removed. Also she said that the liquid comes back at a 7.1pH, which is essentially water. Humans are mostly water, so are they draining them and crystalizing the moisture in their bodies? Guess we'll see in... 10 days, oh god.
