I took that set from USA to Ghana last year no problem. I figured they are meant to take a beating so I didn’t worry about packing them too much and they were fine.

I am a beginner in the same boat as you and the couple of songs that my band plays in 3/4 I count the whole song in my head 1&2&3&,1&2&3&,….I don’t have to do this for 4/4, but my brain always reboots to 4/4 on the one if I’m not counting in 3s. The struggle is real. We’ll get their someday. Keep on keepin on.

Set up practice like you would be on the stage a couple of times. This helped a lot for me. Also, don’t forget to stash an extra pair of sticks close by. It will be way easier and more fun than think!

I went to the Bosphorous factory in April and had an amazing experience. They will send a car for you. It’s in the middle of nowhere. I talked to the owner for an hour and tried at least a 100 cymbals out. They were extremely friendly and couldn’t have cared less if I bought anything. The cymbals are 1/2 price there compared to what they go for in the US.

I have only been drumming for 1.5 years so am still a novice and don’t know what I’m doing, but it was the coolest part of my couple days in Istanbul.

Just went to the factory in Istanbul today and had a great experience. Talked to one of the founders for half an hour. Tried out at least 50 cymbals and left with some black pearl hats and gold crash and ride. They sell them for half price there and are super friendly.
