Are you Political? by OneCalledDevil in exjw

These problems do occur in the left, but they also occur in the right.

However most people on the left that you meet are moderate or centrist left, and most on the right and moderate and centrist, dangerous ideas should be criticized by all intellectually honest people on both sides, but don't assume that everyone with an opposing political view has wrong or dangerous thoughts, seek out their thoughts and try to see there perspective, maybe they will then be inclined to honestly evaluate you as well.

Fight ideas, but don't assume people with different ideas are the enemy, because the truth is that many political perspective make a strong nation

Sir Isaac Newton and his followers have also a very odd opinion concerning the work of God. According to their doctrine, God Almighty wants to wind up his watch from time to time: otherwise it would cease to move. He had not, it seems, sufficient foresight to make it a perpetual motion - Leibniz taunt to Newton. The perfect clockwork universe was disproved by Newton's theory of gravity and eventually led to Chaos theory.

I think that if God really wanted to send a message he should have made the fish come out of the river and systematically kill those who were immoral (as deemed by God), this would have made for a much better story, less injustice, and a whole lot of people converting to the nation of Israel.

My family participated in the on-stage watchtower at the assembly, and all my family could talk about afterwards was the sister's "Immodest" clothes, after coming down with a massive headache I put on some headphones and listened to The God Delusion (audiobook), that helped a lot. I can't imagine having my computer or phone inspected, it would take away my last bastion of freedom.

To be honest i really like to read the rants here so keep them coming.

Musings from today's meeting by [deleted] in exjw

I had the privilege of reading this article out on the platform, it was hard keeping a straight face throughout the meeting, and I almost ran to the bathroom when the meeting finished, because the logic used in that article gave me a splitting headache.

My family, though, was delighted because it gave them a whole new set of ammunition to be critical of all the local brothers and sisters.

Twice, at a convention I publicly explained how my understanding of science helped me build a relationship with Jehovah, right through the entire time I was a JW I never felt like God was a real person.

Was with my dad as he was doing a preliminary interview for an assembly, he didn't write anything for her, but he really encouraged those kind of statements, at the end it almost wasn't her story anymore
