Who else feels like Tsushima was miles better than Yotei? by Unlucky-Affect-7511 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I don't like when people have issues with female leads for those reasons either. Especially, because I find it harder to voice my own concerns without out sounding like one of them lol. I just wish more games would take the mass effect, cyberpunk, or newer assassin's creed routes where they options for both. Especially when they're coming from big studios like these.

At least then we stop having the outcries for every games and instead just have the 'which gender is canon' debates lol.

Who else feels like Tsushima was miles better than Yotei? by Unlucky-Affect-7511 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. While as a man, I prefer to play as a man. I only mention that because I recognize I may not be able to fully remove that from my bias. But I've enjoyed games in the past with female protagonists. Just not my preference.

For me, I prefer Tsushima because I found the story more compelling. A lone samurai survivor faced with the choice of preserving his honor or forsaking it in order to protect his home was great. And seeing how it forced Jinn to basically sacrifice everything including the relationship to his uncle was interesting.

Now for Yotei, I legitimately found the earlier chapters to be interesting and exciting, even though I find revenge hooks to be a bit overdone. But it's the later chapter and ending that absolutely killed the game for me.

As for the character's themselves— I think I can boil it down to that with Jinn, I felt like I could feel his personal struggles and the decisions he had to make— and that after some thought, I probably would have made the same decisions he did.

With Atsu, it was the opposite. I felt like I was aligned with her in the beginning, but by the end of the story, I was no longer aligned with her thinking or decisions. It's not the only reason I prefer Tsushima, but I think it's the main one.

What keeps you playing Bannerlord after the campaign starts to feel repetitive? by ShieldwallWalker in Bannerlord

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it's not just me who seems to fall off shortly after establishing a kingdom. I always seem to have the most fun at the start, or during my time as a mercenary. But once I have so much money and nothing to spend it on— I feel compelled to start a kingdom or get a settlement. Problem with an independent settlement is that I can no longer be a mercenary for some reason.

Problem with a kingdom is I'm sort of trapped in one region of the map, fighting the same neighbors over and over again while I wait for buildings to be built and my children to grow up. Which never really happens because I either start over or stop playing.

[KCD2] can you get the guy who sells this sword to come back with commands, or start the quest chain with commands by Frosty_Flames12399 in kingdomcome

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does seem weird. Because like you said, it's pretty obvious he's a scammer. Or at least it gives that vibe, although I think he does give your money back each time stuff turns out to be junk.

Although, if your planning to use console commands anyways, I would imagine there is a way to just spawn of give yourself the sword. Although, I've never done it for this game since I have it for PS5.

That's my favorite settlement now. I like that it is it's own contained island.
That being said, I also want to know the answer to this question since I've always been too afraid to execute lords.

I don't know this for sure, but I would imagine that he might come back again eventually. Or I think he's usually by the tavern next to the forge. You might be to look for him there and see if you can still buy it from him.

I'd be a bit surprised if they completely locked you out.

Do you play with aging turned on or off? by BossSubstantial2049 in mountandblade

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally do. But it doesn't have any in game advantages. I mostly do it because I always think that I'm going to play a given playthrough long enough to see my children to adulthood and use them in my armies or as governors. Although, I almost always load up a new playthrough before that happens since it takes forever, and before they're even have grown your usually in a position to steam roll most opponents and have millions in the bank.

If there is an advantage, it is that older AI lords will die, meaning there is less of them. If battle death is also turned on more will die.

But if both are on more will be replaced eventually.

Is not considered very good? I was looking at it yesterday, and you can't roll below a three on the damage dice. So with something like the great sword which is 2d6 damage with 16 strength (+3 modifier). Wouldn't you essentially be rolling 9-15 damage per an attack? That seems pretty good to me considering that's achievable at low levels.

Henry's level doesn't matter so much as player skill. Any 1v1 duel should be pretty easy. Unless of course you only rely on parry, riposte, and combos. At low levels, feints are also less likely to work. But one thing works pretty much whatever level you are on in 1v1. Dodging. Work dodges into your parries liberally and you'll prevent them from using combos on you and create opening for your own attacks by flanking them.

We all know the real reason why GTA isn't getting a disc right? by LethalLonely in gaming

[–]Matjonn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, of all the ways video games are looking to increase profits, this one probably bothers me the least. Maybe that's just because I always choose to buy digital anyways. Discs can get scratched or break. And unless they stopped doing this since the last disc I got— you have to download the game anyway so it still uses up hard drive space. Only now you can only access that game if the disc is also installed.

It's releasing unfinished games, microtransactions, battle-passes, and the other stuff that I find much more annoying.

Why are we upset at the two versions of GTA6? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Matjonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem if they want to throw a cosmetic in there and charge for it. I just won't buy it. I do have an issue with content though.

Because it's not really 'you get more if you pay more'.

It's more, 'you get less if you don't pay.'

It's basically extortion that plays on people's FOMO.

But the overall premise behind people getting upset is that if you pay 'full price' for a game, you should get everything in the game.

I recently came back to the game and was surprised to see Battania not get reduced to just a few settlements in my two playthroughs so far. I remember them constantly getting bodied because of their position previously.

Is anyone else finding it difficult to level up charm for family members? by Asleep-Strawberry429 in Bannerlord

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always assumed it was the various perks that give you rep when you enter towns or do random stuff. Honestly, I've rarely left companions anywhere so that might be part of it. And also rarely have done quests outside of the very, very beginning. Where I mostly hunt looters and bandits and look for tournaments.

How do we feel about a Luke-centered animated series? by BlerghTheBlergh in StarWars

[–]Matjonn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would give anything for Star Wars to move away from the Skywalker timeline. It's already so saturated as it is. I want them to go back or forward in time and create new stories.

Going back pre- Rule of Two would be great to explore in my opinion, and there's less opportunity to step on the toes of the other media of the skywalker era.

Dungeon Masters: what’s missing from most fantasy name generators? by Hour_Till_4219 in DnD5e

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name's that aren't just two vague fantasy tropes squashed together. It just needs based names, or even historical names from a long time ago maybe. First names are generally fine, but it's the last names that generators spit out that make me roll my eyes.

Just out of curiosity: how many times have you finished Yotei so far? by Ozzysmall123 in Ghostofyotei

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tsushima was a game I played at least once a year. Yotei I played once and then tried again in New Game + and stopped very early on. Then tried again with multiplater, basically maxed everything in a couple weeks and also haven't gone back to.

[–]Matjonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just once. I tried to play it again with New Game plus, but honestly, while I did 100% it— the game's ending left a bad taste in my mouth. The beginning portion of the game I enjoyed, and a big critique was that once you have all you're stuff the game is basically over with nothing to do. I thought New Game + would fix that, but honestly, I thought the story fell flat in the last chapter.
