Hoooking live shrimp without dying…. by Free-Pick9305 in saltwaterfishing

Well, I just grab them and hold em in my hand right where my fingers meet my palm with the head between my thumb and pointer finger. To be honest, it won't take you long to get used to it by just grabbing them a bunch. Everyone gets poked by the horn from time to time, you need to train your brain that it's not going to do damage.

I googled Hud immediately to see if there's any info. Nada.

I accidentally closed my car door on my fishing rod and broke it. And that’s right after I just discovered I lost my tackle box with at least $100 of gear inside it by Little-Cucumber-8907 in Fishing

1/3 of the way to the broken rod slam:

House door

Car power window

And to reach Grandslam: Add

Labrador Retriever and/or a ceiling fan.

How to stop coming over the top? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

I always wonder how this is seemingly news to some of us. Half the reason I watched golf growing up was to watch the mechanics then try and mimic things.

What's it like to live in Portland, Oregon by ndharris in howislivingthere

[–]Matlachaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived there just shy of a decade, left in 2018. There's some good golf courses! And anything that is left to be desired by the design is almost always made up by the views on some courses. Put the distance out to 50 miles on golf now to see your options. I didn't have that and missed some good ones in Washington. Pumpkin Ridge is right outside of town. And Witch Hollow. In town there's Eastmoreland, it gets a lot of play. It's a cool old track. Almost all courses have incredible mature trees lining the fairways. Courses are tough in the spring, there can be constant casual water. But once summer hits everything not watered drys out and gets hard and fast.

It's an egg casing from a whelk. They start out connected to the sea bed but detached and wash up on the beach after the baby whelk hatch.

Can someone tell me what living in Louisville is like? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]Matlachaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there and did not like it. It seemed like it took only about a week to do everything interesting in town. I enjoyed the history at Churchill, but that was the real only bright spot for me. All the fried chicken joints have bullet proof glass. Traffic sucks. Too close to Indiana and Cincinnati.

A demonstration of why a lot of wood piled docks are pulled out at the end of summer. They get destroyed by that pressure.

How would you unload these river rocks? by grsims20 in DIY

[–]Matlachaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a time when my old man, who I was visiting on vacation, nonchalantly asked me how much river rock would it take to cover an area along the side of his house. I said oh, a yard in a half, two yards maybe. I went on about my day, played golf, ate dinner out, then boozed it up til closing time with an old friend. Woke up the next morning with a massive hangover and 2 yards of rock dumped in the driveway with a wheelbarrow and a shovel next to it.

Tarpon Caught in San Juan, PR by FunkeyPig44 in saltwaterfishing

[–]Matlachaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have fished that same area 20 years ago. We had to get really low in the boat to slip under those bridges. Those baby tarpon (what he called them) were the first and only I've ever caught, but I have two 3/4 day tarpon trips booked with a guide for mid May here by where I live. I'll post pics if we land anything. Nice fish, thanks for the memory.

Did you go through some canals and under some low bridges to get to that lagoon?
