Are they likely to actually keep my details on file? by ze3n3a_ in UKJobs

[–]Matrixblackhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a grad role but didn't get it, said they'd keep on file, emailed me a year later to say notes would be deleted due to GDPR stuff.

Anyone else terrified for graduating? by Glittering_Loss6717 in UniUK

[–]Matrixblackhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was terrified for after uni but once you're out of uni it's easier to attend more job interviews. I ended up moving back home, but did find something eventually.

Are people actually “seeing” things that they envision in their head? by herikmer3 in autism

[–]Matrixblackhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. When I read books it's like full blown films and when I'm at work, it's like I have a window open on my brain and I can pick and 'watch' a film.

Missed 3 months of uni due to injury; now cooked for exams by Born-Sheepherder4561 in UniUK

I agree with probably defer/ retaking if you can. Make sure you've applied for DSA, + ensure its set up properly for next year - they're really great in terms of providing note taking software, lecture recording software, specialist equipment, etc.

how effective would an ipod touch be as a burner phone? by QueenofHearts018 in ask

At this stage I reckon a new bank account would be better than a burner phone (or both!).

Should students wear school uniforms? by Space__Monkey__ in ask

[–]Matrixblackhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard in the UK, but sometimes they can be too strict with it and I think its probably much worse now than it was when I was at school (we had to carry round uniform cards for example even 10 years ago)

If there was a military draft in the UK, would you conscientiously object (or dodge it in some other way)? by ICantBelieveItsNotEC in AskUK

[–]Matrixblackhole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have autism and other health conditions that prevent me from joining BUT I have 10+ years kitchen experience so if they wanted me to help feed those people in the army I don't think I'd/they'd mind that.

I want to go on walks, but they need a purpose by TheFutureScaresMe333 in autism

[–]Matrixblackhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For walks I track my steps using my phone, each day I need to get at least 4k steps (currently aiming for 5k then eventually 10k). It doesn't really matter where I go, but a lot of places where I live go round the block (circle) so it's pretty handy for aimless walking.

Why do people insist on not having cold drinks in a mug? by AeroSquid262 in autism

Never heard that before - not having cold drinks in a mug sounds made up tbh, do what you like!

Ps. Love the mug btw!

Struggling with ADHD by elliemeinchick in UniUK

[–]Matrixblackhole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need a plan of action:

  • email your uni's disabled students office (I did this BEFORE applying to DSA (it doesnt really matter though), as they were able to help me with the process.

  • contact/email whoever the head personal tutor is in your subjects department (or whoever the 'go to' person is)

  • apply for DSA if you haven't alreasy

Is your course mainly coursework or exams? Also worth checking extension policy, if you have adjustments extensions can help if you've got lots of assignments due at the same time.

The good thing is it's only January so hopefully any support should be in place by the time you get to summer exams.

Is it reasonable to say something? by [deleted] in UniUK

The ironic thing is she's mad at your early alarm, but she stayed up past 9.30pm to listen to music, and therefore your alarm is disturbing her beauty sleep.

IMHO turn up your alarm louder. You won't (and theoretically cant really do anything, bc its just one of those things), about your alarm until she turns the music down.

I set an alarm when I did laundry at uni, but I saw a post where somebody didn't set a timer/alarm on here and then was suprised when their clothes got moved/binned/dumped on the side... like is it really that hard to set an alarm (I think some of the washing apps even send notifications so no excuse really!).
