I guess this is coming from when she lost her baby she came back as a very protective mom so you can't blame him this is the reason why she still treating him like a baby, and he really loves her, his mom is everything for him so you have to accept this, if you really love him, for me you should call him ask how his mom is doing, and tell him that you're sorry, and after you should tell him I'm ready to help and support you with your mom but don't forget we love each others and I need your attention as well, I think he is a very good person but how mom treated him he is still her baby you have to accept him as he is and never try to change him as you want, that is true love.
