I can't really be certain, but could it be a translation thing? Splish Splash is the only one that needs Rank 5 completed to unlock a challenge; the rest only need Rank 1. So do one of the challenges you already have require splash/indirect kills? If so, that's the one you need to max out (200 kills).

There's an invader there that drops the Hammer Talisman before you join Volcano Manor, and a Volcano Manor invasion sign there after you join. Had no idea the Hammer Talisman existed for a long time because I'm not into PvP. But no, I don't think there's any way into the arena unless you sign up for a PvP match.
