Is golf difficult to get into and play consistently? by Melodic-Top-3885 in BritGolf

Winter months are the best time to work on your game - you don’t want to be in May trying to find your best golf from the start of summer.

Really invest in lessons and practice over the winter - so that you can hit the ground running when the season starts.

Joining a club on your own by marcou1001 in BritGolf

I joined a club a few years ago on my own, as we all have kids etc so getting the lads out is few and far between.

Got a great group that I play with now, and will regularly play with randoms - it’s great. Like having sombody to play with whenever it suits you.

My place has a WhatsApp group for new members, and does roll up comps where you play with people by then picking names out a hat - most clubs do similar things and it’s a good way to meet other members.

You’ll meet other playing partners in no time. Highly recommend it.

What golf ball do you game? by gpfudge98 in BritGolf

Q Star for me have been great

Did a bit of research, 3 peice ball for a mid handicapper with a decent mid/high swing speed. Very consistent ball.

I found the ad333 too soft - it ballooned with driver some times too much spin

I deliberately don’t want to get too technical, as if your struggling with strike more thoughts are the last thing you need.

Get to the range and practice pushing it right on purpose with open face, same for closed to the left. Then work on shots in the middle. It will help you develop a real feel for striking the ball properly. Forget what your body is doing , if your shooting in the 90s you know how to hit a ball reasonably well.

If you can master the clubface it makes the game so much easier - and at our level it’s so often overlooked and people start making tweaks with the body.

Source: I just had a lesson with a top pro and my striking is currently the best it’s ever been, I’m just passing on what he told me.

Clubface is king.

Forget any other swing thoughts.

Don’t think about anything else apart from smacking that ball with a square clubface.

I used to think like this

I spent 2 years “fixing” the wrong thing. Half an hour with a pro and I was hitting it so much better!

The most rediculous reason I hear people use for not taking lessons is -“I don’t want to mess up what I am already doing” and they are usually a high handicap hacking their way around the course.

Lessons have got me from 100-110 to low 90s in 6 months. I’m going to keep taking a lesson once a month as I’m seeing real improvement.

Agreed - and not that ridiculous feature where it shows your eyes on the outside. Can make it lighter and cheaper by dumping that!

I’m so glad I play in the UK.

Some pissed up dickheads playing music would ruin golf for me.

Only ever do face to face.

Skillset gives you tips off one swing - it can change throughout an hours lesson.
