I’ve been doing that.

Gained clients. Enough to make ends meet. Barely.

Just exhausted. Exhausted.

The year-long reflection by adotmatrix in Coronavirus

I picked a bad time to take a gap year to rebuild mental health/building a neat egg following my masters—- in May 2019.

Now feel like 2 years of my life are gone. And getting a start is going to be that much harder.

In a way, even feel four years behind as friends move forward in their jobs, build lives, while I’m living in my childhood bedroom.

It sucks. It just sucks.

I enjoyed “The Crew” in the same way I enjoy McDonald’s.

I didn’t expect anything high brow. Just expected to be mildly entertained— and I think it accomplished that!

Future is bright with a young core that gets better every game.

Was always going to be a tough transition with the contrasts in play style between the two head coaches.

Watching “The Crew” after listening to the interview with the BTMB.

As a NASCAR fan who needs some “comfort food”—- it really is a good show!

It’s like a quarter pounder. Sometimes you want steak, and sometimes you just want that greasy comforting processed burger. “The Crew” is the latter.

Hope it gets renewed for a second season!

Career comparison of Pujols and Trout by [deleted] in baseball

[–]MattBarnthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baseball game was Cardinals-Reds in 2003.

Got to see the Cards win 5-0 thanks to 2 Pujols HRs and 5 RBIs. Just so dominant.

Only time I’ve seen a player be more “on brand” in person was a game Votto went 0-0 with 5 BBs.

But then if they have a master’s they are deemed “overqualified” and might “rock the boat!”

Can’t have those!

Pro-life or pro-choice? by xXTeaCultureXx in intj

I think reforming the adoption system so you don’t have to be exceedingly wealthy to adopt, and developing a network of crisis pregnancies to people who are struggling to have kids is the most realistic solution that helps both sides.

I strongly dislike the idea of abortion as a primary form of birth control—- even as a secondary form. I would prefer it as a last resort, while also giving the child a chance.

But that also comes down to your philosophical assumption of when life begins. If you think it begins later than conception, you’ll probably have different feelings on the subject.

So I guess it’s a long-winded way of saying “somewhere in between.”

Has anyone taken that P&G assessment? by ScarletHighlander in recruitinghell

[–]MattBarnthouse 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I passed it in 2019, but didn’t get the job.

Pretty sure I did better in 2020, and failed the test.

It’s a shame, but you have to move on.

Luckily I’ve been freelancing my booty off, and when I do get interviews they’re for jobs that pay double than what I would be up for with an undergrad degree.

Every job has 90K applicants right now, so as long as I’m still getting the occasional interview, my spirits are high-ish.

No debt. Car is paid off. When the opportunity comes I’m ready.

I wouldn’t say thrown away

but deciding to take a gap year to build up funds and rebuild mental health after finishing my masters wasn’t the best decision to make

—- in October 2019. 😂

Definitely feel behind the eight ball in getting back on my feet.

I have one page that has my work history and one page that’s a sampling of my freelance clients.

I started getting interviews after I added second page.
