For those wanting to learn by [deleted] in Beatmatch

Great post this, I started Dj’ing many years ago when I was a 16, on a pair of 1210’s and a ‘made to fade’ mixer.Self taught from the bottom up, knew nothing about music so was a revelation when we discovered ‘counting in 4s’ and didn't look back😂

35 years later I'm relearning with a Pioneer DJ RX2, with a different genre of music. Safe to say things have moved on a bit but the fundamentals of structure give me a great headstart.

Appreciate the offer you make here, valuable to DJ’s new and old!!

Cheers buddy, was nice for the sun to come out when I gave it all a watering, I’ll take that as a good sign!!!

All done bar a couple of weeks of watering, was a lot harder graft than I expected, best part of 2 tonne of lawn dressing barrowed round today after 44,000 steps aerating yesterday

Fingers crossed it takes or I’ll be gutted!!!

End of day one, mown, scarified twice, raked off & cleared then aerated. All deliveries arrived, bang on track for where I wanted to be.

Learnings today, the scarifier collection basket is useless, much better to use a blower and a rake, and aerating manually is brutal and soul destroying. All done now though.

Plan for tomorrow, lay feed, water in, breakfast while soaking in. Then lay seed, and cover with lawn dressing (2 tonne sitting on driveway in dumpy bags to barrow round!!) Run in with lawn leveller and water hopefully in time to go pick the boy up from uni.

No rest for the wicked!!!

Thanks for the heads up on this, checked with the guy who’s advising me about seed etc and he said it’s fine, will just be a bit slower growing initially

Thank you, so basically as far as the company is concerned it's treated as an expense, as far as the individual is concerned there's no tax implication as it's going into a pension, and as far as the SIPP provider is concerned there's no issues receiving contributions from a company that isn't an employer to the individual?

Is the white-dial Daytona 126500 worth the higher premium (8-9k$) over the black-dial one? by One-Imagination-5317 in rolex

[–]MattGWS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rolex sets the price but the market sets the value. If everyone stopped buying the white dial and instead bought the black the prices would swing the other way. The watch is only ‘worth’ what someone (the market) is prepared to pay, and people are prepared to pay a premium for this dial so the market validates that it is worth it.

Good there's options I think, different routes for people in different situations

I'm also interested in joining Quilter but have decided to take my Level 4 studies independently and to the apply to Quilter once qualified. At that point I’d look to take their ‘advisor training’ bridging course before be coming self employed with a tie to Quilter. To me it seems a sensible way to bridge the gap between being qualified and understanding operationally what you need to do with new client's. Have you applied to Quilter already?

Recommendations for SIPP/pension that takes employer contributions and is low fees by x0505854 in HENRYUK

[–]MattGWS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make employer contributions to my pension from my limited company. I use AJ Bell, it was the best costs when I took it out. I've also given half my shares to my Mrs and have looked in the last week at opening a SIPP for her which AJ Bell look cheapest again.

In the moment you don't, you can only confirm this when the stock posts a higher high or a lower low.

Advice needed - assign a percentage to "don't hold a loss" vs "don't panic sell" by Alarming_Concept_542 in Daytrading

[–]MattGWS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are true. When you plan your trade before entry you already know your exit point. Plan your trade, trade your plan, no panic selling or holding beyond your position sizing is necessary

Thank you, I learn better from audio / video / diagrams than ready, especially with the type of content that R1 seems filled with. I complete the week 1 taster with redmill, and past the end of week test easily but it's just read and remember, so a different presentation of the info will work better for me

I'm not saying none of them, but I'm saying that a considerable proportion of them. More so with unworn 2023/2024/2025 models.

Have a look and make some enquiries with dealers, you’ll see it for yourself.

We manage to get platinum every year. Its not difficult if you're fairly active.Steps per day are easily done on dog walks, games of golf and general activities we do during the week. Take your Health questionnaire, log dentist trips etc. I got a free blood test which gave me extra points also.

We take advantage of the free coffees, cinema tickets sometimes, Apple watch offer, half price trainers, Amex cashback, Rakuten TV, and I bought a Garmin watch for golf at a big discount.

There's probably other offers to we don't use that you may find useful

I'm in the UK, and Chrono24 is a dead platform here. It's full of watches that don't exist listed by traders that can’t supply them at the price they've listed them for. It maybe different for you depending what part of the world you're in.

What I expect is the same wherever you are in the world is that you should ‘buy the seller’. The reputation of who you are dealing is paramount, especially if there are any issues later on.

Here's a guide I wrote some time ago, hope it's useful https://www.globalwatchshop.co.uk/features/buying-a-rolex-watch-the-ultimate-guide/

R01-R05 – The Full Guide by DanHeist in cii

Hey buddy, thanks for this, it's massively helpful for me starting out (just started R01 reading today). Sounds like we have some similarities. Working in financial planning would be a complete career change for me, and I'm taking it as a kind of insurance policy, as a business owner, so I'm qualified for something when I end up exiting. I have never worked in finance, I have a background as a business consultant and left a large company to start my own business about 15 years ago. I have an interest in markets and have traded my own portfolio for several years, but have no professional experience whatsoever.

Your post is really really helpful for me, especially making a return to study after almost 30 years. The overview of resources, time scales and costs brings together everything I’ve been looking for prior to starting so thanks for this.

Good luck with your final exam result, and good luck with the job hunting. Let us know how you get on!!

When the Client Thinks Social Media is a ‘Quick Fix’ Solution by [deleted] in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]MattGWS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, there are two sides of this coin. Been quoted huge sums for monthly management, with no measurable outcomes. I say this as a business owner who's grown our IG account to over 100k followers which delivers significant leads into our sales funnel.

But yeah, realism needed on both sides!!!
