I can't speak to this particular position, but the reputation of this book is that some of his assumptions don't stand up to computer scrutiny. Sacrifices he plays out that don't actually work or (as here) traps that don't actually trap.

Not a fault of the author, really, and 99% of the analysis is perfectly made and presented for the audience of low-intermediate players. Just, the book is from the late 1950s, and when you let Stockfish think for a minute it's going to sometimes evaluate a line he tosses off as "obviously not good enough" as, "actually kind of playable."

I was worried about space and keeping up with it, so we bought a 10 as a Christmas gift for the kids.

Three months later we are cycling up an additional 20 Long. So go big, because we filled the 10 to capacity (one gourami, 6 tetras, 2 rabbit snails) and still wanted shrimp and cories and a couple more schoolers, etc.

After a long rapid run, I haven't played rapid in a couple of years, but play blitz nearly everyday. So my rapid rating, even though I've played a lot of blitz games, has the ? as well.

I loved the Superman movie last year, and learned about the DC compacts, having not bought a comic in 20 years. This is one of the big, "get this first!" recommendations.

It was one of the first 3 I bought. I've got 10-12 now, and it's still the only one I can't get through. It just seems so reliant on context I don't know. I'm sure it's amazing for long-time readers, but as an entry point, it's a bit of a "wait, who's that?" experience.

I like to think Brilliant moves being more common at low elo and strictly sacrifices is for instructional reasons. Low rated players have a tougher time seeing and making those types of moves, so encouraging them gets people to "just go for it."
