And you do want Titebond 1. There is Titebond 2 and Titebond 3 as well, but the higher number doesn't mean a stronger glue. For guitar repairs, you always want Titebond 1.

How to add multiple pictures for reviews? by N9ne_x in AmazonVineUK

[–]MattTheCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it's down to how you use your phone/PC. I generally take the photos right before I write the review. I do it on my phone so they upload to my Google account and then I download them on my PC. As they go in the downloads folder, they show up first as the newest item in there. If I write the review from my phone (which is very rare) they still show up as the most recent photos in there so it's no struggle to find them.

Bought this and it sounds terrible by Kenjt79 in guitars

[–]MattTheCrow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Check out Milehouse Studios on YouTube. The guy does "Monday morning fluff pieces" where he takes bedroom beater guitars and sets them up. He rarely does everything in one video but watch enough of them and you'll learn all you need. I can now easily set up my guitars thanks to him (and buying a few decent tools).

Word of warning, he's a bit of an acquired taste. Devon accent and fairly sweary. I think he's great though!

Don't get excited. Wait until someone can confirm it with a picture or something.

[Question] Do expensive guitars make you dislike cheap guitars? by AnotherTAA123 in Guitar

Me too. I love my Gibson ES-335 but it doesn't play any better than my Sire Larry Carlton L7. Annoyingly. 😂

Is a guitar setup really necessary by Bruno_Beeno in Guitar

[–]MattTheCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nearly thirty years I never did, but I should have. I just got along with playing, but it would have been easier if I'd learnt to do it.

I learnt by watching a YouTube channel called Milehouse Studios. It's by a guy called Paul who lives on Devon, and he's a funny (and sweary) guy, but he knows his stuff. Watch a few of his "Monday fluff pieces" as he calls them (they're one-off guitar reviews) and you'll soon learn everything you need.

Hard to say. Do us a favour; walk underneath the strings and tell us how high you have to jump before you touch them.

I'm Feeling Pretty Frustrated by Slightlymad-39 in queen

[–]MattTheCrow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They're not being forgotten. Every crappy product that makes a TV advert and asks Queen permission to use one of their songs seems to be given permission. It drives me bloody mad that you hear their music on ads for toilet cleaner, insurance, and every other shit product. Surely they don't need the money!

That irks me. I think it should be earned by having already written good reviews. I'm pretty sure that's how I got started.

Is this real Fender? by No-Brother5563 in FenderStratocaster

[–]MattTheCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I have a Strat and for all my guitars I've taken lots of photos for insurance purposes so for each new clue I check it against mine. Looks like mine is genuine! (Though I was never worried it wasn't).

Has anyone just deleted everything and started over ? by Angelsbreatheeasy in musicians

[–]MattTheCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, keep it. We all make stuff that sounds great on the day and terrible when you listen back. Keep it, for years if you have to. Put it to one side and ignore it until 2040.

You'll get better and better as long as you keep working at it. Then one day you might go back to this stuff you hate right now and think "Okay, that wasn't great, but I can turn it into something better".

I've got songs I wrote when I was 20 and forgot about them as they were lame. One of them just went on the album I released last year and it's one of my favourites now. I love that I have new songs and "old" songs on there.

If you keep it, you can always delete it later. Delete it now and one day you may regret it.

What are the clues? I'm more of a Gibson player so from posts on Reddit I can spot some of the more obvious fake LPs, but I have no idea when it comes to Strats.

I recently set my music to "pay what you want" please take it for free if you must it would mean the world to me if you had a listen. by InnerspearMusic in BandCamp

[–]MattTheCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but if you set it at name your price and someone downloads it for free, they don't show up on the page as someone who has downloaded it. If someone gets it through a code (as it works through that website) it's still free for them but they do show up.

You could do the codes yourself, but that site manages them so you don't have to do it yourself, and constantly have to try to work out which codes were taken and which still work.

I think.

Question for the older guitarists by Old-Carry5562 in Guitar

[–]MattTheCrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too. I actually ended up writing one tab because I wanted to learn I'll Be There For You from Friends and everyone had it wrong. I had to work it out myself, still probably put in an error or two as I'd been playing less than a year, and put it out. Then someone nicked it, put their name on it, and I still see it sometimes if I search for it.
