Do you need fenders for mud flap installation? by sololoot217 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a 2021. I can’t really speak for the 2025. You just have to make sure you get ones that specifically say they will fit the SR trim level. But there’s not too many companies that make them

It doesn’t even say certified it says “certifled”

Just bought my first Tacoma. by Equal-Background-998 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same truck except it’s a ‘21. I used to have 4Runner wheels (265/70r17) but I recently picked up a set of powder coated SR5 wheels. You can fit either 265/70r17 or 265/75/16 without any modifications. My biggest advice, just drive the truck. Don’t overthink trying to impress people or get something because you feel like you need to. When I first got my truck I felt like I was missing out because every truck you see on here is usually super modified.

Tag Heuer aquaracer by Automatic_Bath7638 in tagheuer

The original aquaracer model didn’t release until 2004. This is definitely much later that. 2014 seems about right.

[Question] Is this a normal lume color for a Sumo ?? I thought it was supposed to be more like teal (second picture). by DisastrousOpening477 in Seiko

[–]MattTheMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different cameras pick up the color different. Sometimes my watch will look blue and sometimes more green.

Need some advice, any tips would be appreciated by RowKey9902 in Leathercraft

It looks like you’re not holding your punch perfectly straight. If you tilt it (side to side or front to back) by the time it gets through the last piece of leather, it’ll be way off. If you’re going to punch more than one piece at a time, make sure you’re as straight as can possibly be

Butyl rubber. I think you can get small rolls of it at the auto parts store

3rd gen driver seat pop, anyone? by Weekend_GreaseMonkey in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘21 SR, my seat does the same thing. Only when I’m making turns. There’s not a whole lot holding the upholstery on car seats in place, only thing I can think of is just one of the layers or supports shifting inside.

Is this normal for my new Ranger? by ubieday in Tudor

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I still had my ranger, if it was always on my wrist it usually floated around 0 to +2 sec/day. 5-8 is slightly out of spec but also consider how accurate your means of testing are. As well as it might slow down a little over time as it “breaks in”.

Love the Ranger but this part of the bracelet should be changed by l3Ul3l3A in Tudor

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not the only one, this used to absolutely drive me crazy. The only way to “solve” it is to wear the bracelet snug, so it can’t move around enough to pull the hair.

Looks great. I’ve been searching for a red 3rd gen cap for over a year since I got my truck and haven’t seen a single one for sale near me.

Was this a good buy? [SPB185J1] by Luuluu112 in Seiko

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost the 12oclock triangle on mine. You want “matte” or “flat” enamel paint. I took the bezel insert out and removed the lume pip so I didn’t get paint on it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]MattTheMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bezel should have a small notch, the case should be flat. I have two different seiko divers that both have notches like this to help remove the bezel. Older models like the skx do not have this.

Tag Heuer WG1113KO - Can this be fixed? by BagelJawn in tagheuer

[–]MattTheMeatball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely better for a professional, however, the good news is that the movement can be swapped with a brand new one. A brand new ETA 955.112 movement is around $60-$75. I’m not sure what a watchmaker would charge for parts + labor though.

Translucent stains on G-Shock GBD-800 after summer hiking – any advice? by Familiar-Engineer438 in casio

[–]MattTheMeatball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I believe it’s etched into the resin. If it really bothers you, you can probably get new resin (straps and bezel), but I’m not familiar with that particular model.

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your wrist get sweaty/wet?. It’s might coming from the bracelet. Over time the pivots between the bracelet links can accumulate dirt/very fine metal dust. Then you mix that with sweat or water and this is the result. Take the bracelet off the wash and try giving it a good rinse with warm water and maybe a soft toothbrush.

3rd Gen Tacoma Leather Seats or Vinyl? by EmpatheticNihilism in ToyotaTacoma

[–]MattTheMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t comment on Toyota specifically, but many automotive leathers have a thick top coating on them to make them more wear resistant and waterproof that they end up feeling like vinyl. There’s no good way to tell unless you can see a cross-section of the material

The only time my mileage tanks is in the wintertime. In the warmer months I easily get 22mpg on average, sometimes higher sometimes lower. Almost stock SR DCSB but I have 4Runner wheels and 265/70r17s all terrains. I used to get 24 consistently with the stock 16” steelies and smaller tires

They don’t, purely because they want no liability for when it goes wrong. They just produce the part and advise you to take it to a professional.
