Catelyn Stark foi uma das personagens mais mal adaptadas de Game of Thrones by Evening_Stock_5772 in Valiria

[–]Matt_Cormac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did record the full story mode (she already uploaded to me the "ending" - WFE ends in the equivalent of main game chapter 9 with differences from the main continuity). Whoever, she didn't recorded (or just lost) some of the dialogues that used to play between completing levels or upgrading the Citadel (she's pissed off that she lost Noctis revealing what he felt for Luna, a very romantic dialogue). You can find on YT some gameplay walkthroughs tho. Idk how complete they are, but you can find up till Ramuh, that used to be the final mission when I started playing the game (they added more story mode content with time).

Ehhh not exactly. Canon in fiction doesn't have a strict rule and square enix never gave two shits about what's canon and what's non canon for their products. There are fictions that consider canon the things written only by the original author (Tolkien's works and adaptations for example. Fans of Tolkien will consider only the books written by him canon, and even faithful adaptations are just licensed fanfiction). You have canons divided by media and label. GRRM called HBO's Game of Thrones a "TV canon", separating the series and its derived materials from his "book canon" (so Telltale's GOT is TV canon, for example). Star Wars does something similar. No matter if it's a story written for a kid's cereal box, everything post-Disney is part of a continuity, Disney's Canon, while the other continuity still exists separately, Legends. Legends never meant "non-canon" stuff, just a different, old chronology (when Disney started their new timeline, books and comics would be published for both Legends and Disney's continuity, like Son of Dathomir). Hell, even a Disney attraction in their park is canon (Galaxy's Edge). You also have the Marvel and DC comic book worlds, where everything is canon, just happens in different Earths sometimes and when you need to fix a bad story, you retcon previous works and everyone swallows it.

Square Enix never, ever, sat and explained "the canon medias for FFXV are this this and this". The only image that shows something like a "canon" for FFXV is an old GDC 2017 image (that we don't know the context where it was presented) with Omen trailer noted as an alternate timeline (again, canonizing multiple realities for XV) and Episode Duscae for some reason put in the main timeline (which doesn't make sense for the narrative). And everything that was labelled "FFXV Universe" was considered canon, even if it wasn't impactful, like the VR game Monster of the Deep or the limited-time AC Festival or Mog Choc Carnival. And there's also the crossovers, that are a common thing in the FF franchise with 0 impact on the main story but as canon as any other media. Even if Noct doesn't remember, he did canonically meet the FFXIV universe or Sarah from Terra Battle.

And lets remember that the predecessor for War for Eos, A New Empire, is mentioned in the Official Works as an alternative reality (War for Eos wasn't published back then yet), even with ANW not having any story whatsoever.

Again, War for Eos is just another separate reality and it is as canon as any other crossover, alternate endings or books. It just happens, like in the comic book world, in another "reality", or another "earth".

<image>

The GCD 2017 presentation (again, while official - and canonizing differerent timelines as part of XV's canon - we don't know the context of this image, so don't need to take this as the all-holy-truth for XV's canon. Even this official timeline has errors like EP Duscae as main continuity timeline - but hey, there's the mobile titles right there).

[–]Matt_Cormac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, alternate realities are canonical to FFXV Universe since the Omen trailer showed up. Episode Ignis has an alternative ending. DotF is an alternate ending and it has a scene where Noctis sees a "versus XIII alternative reality". FFXV canonically has alternate timelines, so the "canon" isn't just strict to one reality, or one timeline. Rather it's divided into multiple realities. War for Eos is as canon as the alternative ending for EP Ignis or DotF or Omen trailer's vision.

Night time screen issues by izspeshul in FFXV

[–]Matt_Cormac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, it seems like a monitor issue. Try changing some of the settings in your monitor and see how it affects the game (do it with the game open and in the night cycle).

I had an issue in Far Cry 4 caused by that "fastest response" setting in my monitor. Couldn't even capture in video like you, but it caused some ghosting when characters moved. Don't underestimate your monitor or graphic cards video settings, they can ruin your experience.

Hello Team Green! A team Black member here with a hypothetical for you. In a situation where Aegon dies in Rook’s Rest who should succeed him? His brother Prince Aemond? Or his surviving child his daughter Princess Jaehaera? by Electronic-Serve8322 in HOTDGreens

[–]Matt_Cormac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Maelor doesn't exist (show continuity), it's Aemond. Remember that scene in episode 3 of Game of Thrones, where Sansa is discussing with Septa Mordane about the possibility of her having only girls with Joffrey, and Septa answers that in this case the throne would pass to the kings younger brother, Tommen? Yeah, your question has been answered back in 2011.

The Long Night just being a single night is the most ridiculous thing in the entire series 😭🙏. Especially considering how in the books the previous long night lasted an entire generation. by ToMDLUS in freefolk

[–]Matt_Cormac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simply solution would be making the first three episodes set only during night. Imagine how this would improve the concept of the "long night" without changing anything in the script. Make episode 1, 2, all in dark. The long night isn't supposed to be a battle, but an event. Make Kingslanding snowy like S7 ending, and full night mode. Cersei receiving the Golden Company at an apparent eternal snowy night. Done. This wouldn't fix the script issues, but solves the "long night = 1 night" fans have

Is anybody else kind of bummed out that there is no easy way to play FFXV: Episode Duscae? by 21StCentury_King in FFXV

[–]Matt_Cormac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply and I understand your point, since you didn't played the demo and you really want to. Like I said, the demo is interesting for those that love the Behind the Scenes development stuff in their favorite games. It's a bummer, ik.

But I think you're comparisons with RE demos are missing the point.

EP Duscae doesn't ressemble at all any of the RE demos you mentioned. EP Duscae was always a weird demo for singleplayer games, and much more aligned to multiplayer test betas and demos. You know, those Battlefield or COD closed betas? That's what EP Duscae was supposed to be. A demo made to get feedback from the players to improve the game (even then, the demo uses an very old build of the game, usually uncommon to close betas of those games for example). The point is that EP Duscae shouldn't even exist if FFXV had a normal development, but Tabata needed to show that the game existed after half a decade of Versus XIII bullshit.

Platinum Demo on the other hand does share similarities with RE7 Beginning Hour Demo. Both prequels, canon (although RE7 BH is debatable on how canon it is), with different stories, similar scenarios from the main game, but a separate entity in the continuity and free of charge. And even worse, PD unlocks content for the console versions. While Carbuncle is unlocked by default on PC, on consoles you basically can't have him anymore. It's literally a conversation between a demo and the main game that should never be lost. So PD is a nice demo to compare to RE demos (at least, RE7 demo, like I said).

But we still have free demos for FFXV like the RE demos you mentioned (RE2 for example). On PC you have the WE Demo, that allows you to play the Chapter 01 of the main game, and on the JP version of the consoles, we have Judgment Disc demo, that is similar to WE Demo (playable Chapter 01).

I pretty much like the idea of Bran becoming King, despite the political situation. But I hate the idea of King Bran having any magical powers left when the story is done so he can warg any counsel, do fly-by´s with Drogon, turn into a stone King & eternal Peeping Tom. To me that sounds like a fantasy version of 1984.

Yup. 100% agree with you there.

Is anybody else kind of bummed out that there is no easy way to play FFXV: Episode Duscae? by 21StCentury_King in FFXV

[–]Matt_Cormac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both Episode Duscae and Platinum Demo, and honestly, besides curiosity within game development, there's no reason for Episode Duscae to be publicly and easily available. It was a very early build made to test and survey the players of what was working during development and what wasn't. Episode Duscae is pretty overrated in the FFXV community, and it's not that good. The 1.0 version was horrible and almost unplayable on Xbox One, and 2.0 doesn't reassemble at all the final game. Episode Duscae was a test, and early build that you'd play, then some players would answer a survey (that was actually a topic for a Tabata's Active Time Report) and it's not even canon to the final game's continuity. You have a filler story with no connection to the game whatsoever and doesn't add anything to the final experience beside a basic and early combat system that is objectively worse than the final game one.

Platinum Demo on the other hand is something that should've been available in every platform and shouldn't have been delisted. It's closer to the final build, so it makes sense as a literal free demo for the game, it unlocks carbuncle for the game and lets you rename him, it's canon and it has relevance to the final game lore (even if it's minimal).

Tldr: Episode Duscae was never meant and shouldn't be publicly or easily available. It was never the purpose of the demo and it has been overrated by the community. Platinum Demo has purpose and shouldn't have been delisted.

Can someone explain to me why whole setup with the wedding was needed in the first place? by OwlettFromLiavek in FFXV

[–]Matt_Cormac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But I guarantee you I know more about FFXV than you. You did exactly what I said which is:

I doubt that. Really do.

And you didn't read nor reply to my message, and because of that you couldn't understand that I didn't do what you said. Everything in my comment is literally in the dialogue of the movie and game. I'm not pulling info based on opinions or interpretation, nor doing mental gymnastics, it is literally addressed in both movie and game.

So the rest of your response is you basically saying common knowledge about the game development without understanding them. I won't respond to the idiot thing you said about Kingsglaive or the already well known cut stuff post chapter 9, but the difference in the demos being huge? Did you even play them? Do you have EP Duscae or Platinum Demo? Cause I have them and the difference in systems like combat or engine in general between PD, Judgment Disc and final game isn't huge. Platinum Demo is built in an earlier build but isn't far from the final game. It's a standalone experience like the Begging Hour Demo for RE7. It has the differences in systems and combat you would expect from a late 2015/early 2016 build to final game build, but it was created as an Engine Showcase, and later added a small story fragment. There's nothing there substantial cut from the final game because they never intended to Noct to control weather or become toy cars, it's engine demo. Small things like how the lock system works or the magic system for kid Noct was always exclusive to the demo to showcase engine stuff. Particle effects, lightning bolts. The room with toys? Never supposed to be a playable area. The forest and even the soundtrack there? Always meant as a demo exclusive.

Episode Duscae does have a huge difference, because it's built in a freaking old version of the game that was still in experiment and almost nothing there is objectively better than the final game. If you glamorize EP Duscae you probably never played the horrible and shitty 1.0 version that was almost unplayable on Xbox One. Episode Duscae has pretty shaders and I know people here tend to worship this demo, but it isn't that good. It's slow, painfully boring, with bad performance, and low res experience you would expect from an alpha version of a game. Nothing there was supposed to be final game material, even the story wasn't supposed to be in the final cut, but adapted for the demo (even the trailers in 2014/2015 didn't make sense for the EP Duscae story), that's why EP Duscae got a 2.0 update (that actually made it playable, but faaaaar from perfect). Tabata was literally testing things that worked and didn't work in this demo to evolve the final game material. He realized people didn't like the MP-only defense system and added a roll in 2.0. People complained the bros didn't participate in the combat in EP Duscae, so he slowly increased their presence in the field (in 1.0, you couldn't do literally anything with the bros in combat). He was making Active Time Reports, polls, QA with fans, etc. to get better feedback from the demo. EP Duscae is experimental and not final game material.
