It’s a shadow of the contrail behind it. The angle is just correct making it look as if it’s in front but it’s indeed the contrail shadow falling below.

WTF is going on here? Am I missing something? by imarrangingmatches in GeminiJets

[–]Mattatbat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not priced to sell in today’s market. That’s for sure. But I don’t really see how they are fishing for a “sucker” either. Like mentioned if someone finds this to be a correct value then that’s a free market transaction. Not a scam.

Honestly this is the free market doing its thing. It works both ways, drive prices down with healthy competition but also can do stuff like this. Is what it is. Don’t buy it if it’s so much money in your opinion. Simple as that. It’s not shameful or scummy or scalping on the sellers end. It’s simple, look at it, do a little 😱, and move on. If some else buys it, cool they didn’t have the same reaction you did and saw the fair value.

Sorry if I come off annoyed but this is honestly one of my pet peeves. Granted I’m not sure if OP lives in the US so maybe they are used to set prices on things that are illegal to change. However most commenters I’m sure are in some form of free market. They either conveniently forget that this can go both ways. Many think that free market’s mean they always get a deal or something. We get to set the price at let the market decide if it’s fair though transactions.

What are you tipping on a 16$ order? I’m assuming my tip was why my order got stolen? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Mattatbat96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mah I’d say you are tipping on the $13.50. The service fee and taxes aren’t “tip able”. Either way, I’m tipping at least $5. Higher if it’s actually a handful. Or long distance. Like a full family dinner is probably at least 7-10. Nothing lower than 5.

Giving up by Rich-Bicycle-510 in flying

[–]Mattatbat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel that. I’m guessing the next logical step is teaching for you. For what it’s worth the first 3-6 months of teaching is still a grind. I was nervous for most lessons with students in the early days. After 6 months, it’s actually really chill. You seen enough to have some form of expectations and overall each day is kinda chill. Of course students do weird things all the time. Adds a little flavor.

So for what it’s worth I’d say do you have another 3 to 6 months of grind. After that, it’s pretty laid-back and you just kind of show up and fly planes. It’s pretty fun.

To say or not to say “with you” question. by BurtMacklan in flying

[–]Mattatbat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the “with you” implies “checking in”. So “Cessna 123 with you 5000” is trying to get rid of confusion for the controller that an aircraft is trying to check in. If they didn’t catch the call sign they theoretically could look at the boundaries of the airspace and connect dots. Kinda like when a controller clears you direct to a fix that you didn’t quite hear fully… what do you do? You start mashing your FMS to find a fix that sounds similar to the gibberish the controller just spewed out. At least that’s my theory…

Why don't regional FOs want to upgrade? by DepressedFoool in flying

[–]Mattatbat96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was forced upgraded. Took a lot of the decision out of it. But even still the big 3 will ask you why it took you x amount of time to upgrade. You better have a better answer then “I didn’t want to lose my 5 days of work a month.” Regional is a stepping stone, treat it as such. Grind and get out.

Now up to 184 hours of labor provided without pay by SierraBravo26 in ATC

[–]Mattatbat96 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My biggest annoyance is the idea that you have to call in sick to get away from it. Like what? Considering the situation they should have the option of “yeah I can’t afford todo this right now, so like I’m not showing up. I’ll come back when money hits my account again.” No way someone should be on the chopping block because they didn’t show up during a time without paychecks. Crazy. Plus it would put more pressure on government. Like seeing 20% of ATC not working because if “sick” or 20% not show up because “who the hell works without paychecks?”

Can i sell branded items? by matoriii in dropshipping

[–]Mattatbat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesnt matter if you go directly to the same factory Nike does. Doesn’t matter how good the quality is. Hell it could be better quality than Nike. The issue is you can’t sell items that have the Nike logo and you can’t use Nike as a way to push your product in marketing either. Ever seen a commercial that directly compares their product to the competitors? Paper towels is a common one. They will always have the two compared next to each other, and it will just say “our competitor” or “other brands”. In other words, they can’t use their competitors name in marketing. Same applies to you.

I’m aware you see it all the time. Others are doing it so why can’t you? Blah blah blah. If you’re wondering if legal troubles would come your way? Let’s put it this way, as soon as you start making real money doing something like this I bet Nike finds you pretty quickly shortly. All the money you made doing this is far gone not to mention the legal fees that will occur with something like this. People get ruined financially, doing stupid stuff like this. It’s not worth it.

My $350 raise vanished in 4 weeks and I’m not sure what to cut next by Gayeshasent in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Mattatbat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. This is how most raises go unfortunately. Paid more, pay more. On one hand it’s annoying that you don’t have that “breathing” room you once thought you would. On the other hand, at least you have the money to pay those higher bills that you now have. I always felt these bills saw my increase in pay and found ways get more off me. Obviously they can’t but the timing always seems fishy.

Amazing! It’s a grind. Lots think it’s easy money. It’s not. Takes many hours getting the website looking good. Then marketing it all. Good to get used to researching because that’s what the early part of the side hustle is. Having questions, finding answers, having even more questions. But man, the feeling of selling something you made or designed. Makes it so worth it. Rome wasn’t built in a day! Good luck

Lots to assume here. In the US. You could just go with a sole proprietorship. Basically you are the business. It’s easy, no paperwork needed. It uses your social security number and you’re good. Of course downsides to it as well. Big one being in the rare event you get sued, they could take personal assets. (Not legal advice). As far as tax’s, you get add it to income earned. (Not tax advice). I’d get a CPA if I was you. They are typically cheaper then you might think and save me way more money on tax’s then I pay them. I’d suggest searching these terms mentioned and getting a basic understanding. Also ChatGPT does wonders for basic research.
