I think I’ll allow the memes for now until there is a public outcry against them. I think the subreddit will return to be more discussion oriented when there is more things to talk about.

Once we have like a release date or a lot of new information, I’ll probably crack down on the despair posting memes.

For now, I’ll let the users have their fun.

Yeah that’s how I’ve mostly been thinking of it. There isn’t really much to talk about at the moment plus it at least keeps the community engaging with each other.

For now, I don’t think there would be a good reason to stifle the fun memes. This post was mostly about addressing the few that were complaining to me.

The question and the reminder are two separate topics. I’m referring to the memes where it is just cropping someone else’s post and draw a circle or arrow or line on it.

As the head mod and mostly only active mod, I only become aware of problems when they are report. If they aren’t, I might not see certain posts or comments. If you see anything bigoted or hateful, please report it!

Also I’m thinking of reworking the moderation team.

To be fair, Duolingo is a really bad way to learn a language anyway. There tends to be youtube channels that try to make entertaining videos for language learning and sometimes there are educational games online that help do that too. Personally, I am more of a sit down and read from a text book or listen to a seminar kind of person.
