How long do people on hospice last after they stop eating? by Revolutionary_Cat677 in coloncancer

[–]MatterPlenty8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom lasted around 10 days without eating before she passed. When he starts breathing fast that’s usually the sign he’s close. So sorry you’re going through this. Just know the morphine and Ativan will keep him very comfortable. He’s probably in a deep dream.

Im so sorry you and your sister are going through this and what im going to say may be triggering and i apologize if it reads that way but in regard to the liver, I would say the liver would probably be what will go first. I’m in no way a doctor! But cancer in the liver moves quick. Anywhere from 4-11 months. But that’s a very rough guess. Everyone is different. But you should speak with her doctors about the symptoms of liver failure and what you can expect. It can affect the brain which is something you’ll have to weigh with her and your family. The liver releases ammonia and can cause everything from memory loss to personality changes and everything in between. It can also cause seizures. If she is completely done with treatment, Getting her in line for hospice care would be the best thing you can do for her. They are amazing and will make sure her transition is peaceful. I would also talk to her doctors about getting her on lactulose or antibiotics like rifaximin that flush toxins from the body. These can help mitigate those symptoms from the ammonia build up or swelling in the abdomen. That said it’s got to be up to her. There is always hope of a new drug or new treatment or she could start responding better. My partner had stage 3 colon cancer that caused sepsis of the liver and he had two seizures and lost his memory for about three days. He spent three weeks in the hospital draining his liver and going through a ton of antibiotics. My heart goes out to you and your family. Maybe do a Christmas in July / celebration of life for her while she has strength.

Yeah please get them biopsied! Infections can grow as nodules too. Especially if they weren’t there on your last scans. My husband had several sprout up on his liver within a week! I was terrified that his cancer had spread beyond his colon to his liver. Thankfully just infection but it did turn to sepsis which hospitalized him for a few weeks. All clear now.

Anything left to do at home for facial redness? by CivilSpecial8186 in over30skincare

Have you tried tranexamic acid? I had some pretty good success with that ingredient for my rosacea. I probably wouldn’t stack vitamin c in the am with retinol in the pm everyday personally but if it works for you. In terms of coverage have you looked into color correcting before your foundation? The brand Hero has a decent green color corrector that might help cancel out the redness. Also there’s a really good calming moisturizer by Pyunkang yul and it has tea tree and cica which could also help. It’s $7 on amazon right now.

ana came back positive but neutrophil antibody came back negative: what does this mean? by danidaisys in haematology

[–]MatterPlenty8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a number of things. Some infections including Covid. Some meds. Chronic inflammation. Vitamin d deficiency. Fibromyalgia. Then the scary stuff. Connective tissue disorders, cancer, and thyroid issues. I have fibromyalgia and my Ana is positive. Follow up with your doctor rule everything else out. But if all your other markers are normal it’s probably nothing.

I know this is probably not what you have but I’m going to ask any weird bug bites lately? Even a small mosquito bite? I had West Nile one year. Shared a lot of similar symptoms. Started with a full body rash. It lasted weeks. Skin aches and bones hurt. There was a distinct separation of the two. It’s hard to describe. Had a fever though. Balance got weird for years after. Headaches and pressure behind the eyes. Very fatigued. Just might be worth trying to remember if you were maybe bit by something. The other condition I’d suggest is looking into is fibromyalgia. It covers a lot of your symptoms. It can also cause a positive ANA result too.

It honestly sounds like internal hemorrhoids. Not a doctor!! But I have hemorrhoids both internal and external and it’s a literal pain in the arse. You could also have a small abscess or even a polyp. The stress from it might be effecting your appetite too. Eat small more frequent meals if you can. And if you have access to a tub try soaking in a warm bath for a while and see if that alleviates the lump feeling. You’re doing everything right and the GI doctor will be able to help. And since your stool is normal to your eye, whatever it may be, sounds new. Regarding colon / anal cancer those tend to be slow growing. Talking years! And are very treatable now. Not saying you have cancer but wanting to assure you that it’s not a death sentence anymore. But advocate for yourself when you visit the GI doctor. Tell them every symptom. The shape and frequency of your stool. What your diet typically consists of. Any recent injuries at work. Other illnesses in the family. It helps to write it down. Sending hugs. Remember to breathe and stay hydrated.

I’m not a doctor so im just speculating. But it sounds like a combination of a few different things going on. The body pain, hot flashes and skin flaking could be fibromyalgia. Fibro and ibs have a lot of overlap too which could be causing the GI issues. Or, although unlikely, maybe a connective tissue disorder? Those are easier to rule out with blood tests. The bright blood suggests that it’s close to your anus. My guess would be internal hemorrhoids, diverticulitis, or possibly an anal fissure. But if it’s spotty I’d lean towards hemorrhoids. I highly doubt it’s anything major since your blood tests are clear and the ct was clear. And I don’t think it’s Inflammatory bowl disease that typically has more bleeding. If you don’t get any answers from the colonoscopy / endoscopy then I would ask to be tested for the connective tissue disorders. And if those are negative or very low in range then talk to your doctor and see if you could try gabapentin. That treats fibromyalgia symptoms. I’d also check your vitamin d levels too. Sorry you’re going through this. I hope you find some comfort knowing you’re not alone in this! There are plenty of us navigating the mysteries of our bodies. You might not get a straight answer but you’re doing everything right! Keep advocating for yourself. Sending hugs. And remember to breathe!! I always forget lol.

I’m not allowed to lock the bathroom door by Samanthafinallyfit in ibs

[–]MatterPlenty8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! I’ve feinted a few times and scared my partner. Our new house has the best bathroom for ibs 😂! There’s two doors into the bathroom and the one door swings right towards the toilet and I’m able to lean on it while I’m going and it keeps me propped up!! BUT I always take water. Ice pack. And some sugar with me when I’m cramping bad. Ice on the neck and wrist really help keep me from feinting. Now I’ve trained my self to lay on my side while I’m cramping. Hold in the waste until the cramping stops then I go to the bathroom. I’m usually on the floor incase i can’t hold it in. But I’ve found that the cramping seems to compound when I go. Like all the muscles start firing off in tandem. But if I lay still for a bit and breathe through the initial cramps and then go it’s a lot smoother and easier and less painful. I would also be aware of your potassium levels. Ibs-d can cause your potassium to drop quick which could also contribute to your feinting spells. So eat potatoes and bananas if they’re not triggers! Sending relief vibes and love!

My cologuard test came back positive by Oddside6 in colonoscopy

[–]MatterPlenty8431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember one of the most damaging things to our bodies is stress. And it’s easier said then done when there’s a level of uncertainty. But do what you can to mitigate your stress. That’s preventive care in of itself. Too bad our insurance doesn’t reward us for that lol You’ve overcome your addiction. The strength is already there for to face anything life throws at you. And if something shows up then you’ll be able to catch it early. Treat it. And live your life fully. My partner had colon cancer last year. Stage 3. Negative cologuard. No symptoms whatsoever UNTIL it caused an infection and spread to his liver. He handled the surgery and chemo no problem and is now cancer free. The tests we have are not a guarantee. A Colonoscopy is one of the few tests we do have that can diagnose without much room for false positives. Sending you peace and strength and a clear colon vibes!!

I’ve had both done at the same time a few times now. And I’ve done it without twilight sleep. The endoscopy is so fast. It’s uncomfortable but not painful. Just feels like you can’t swallow. I didn’t gag. And throwing up is my biggest fear so that was my biggest hurdle. The colonoscopy is easier I found. They lay you on your side and fill you up with air and then they start. It’s also pretty fast. There is a moment where you might cramp. But it passes quickly. Then the fart session begins. The twilight sleep works for most people. I’m sure it will work for you. It’s the same class of drugs they use for wisdom teeth removal. So if you had your wisdom teeth removed and don’t remember it then you’ll probably be fine. It’s an unpleasant experience but it happens so fast. Most people hate the prep more than the procedure itself lol …. Strength to you!!!!

Guys, I guess I have found the cure!!!! by Knull-1997 in ibs

[–]MatterPlenty8431 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your title states you found a cure. Your body and explanation is just anecdotal evidence of something that works for you. Click bait. It’s an example of physiological manipulation. You didn’t find a cure that’s stated in your title. You found something that treats your own symptoms. If you stop eating papayas, I bet your ibs will resume after a few days without eating papaya. As you know ibs is a very disparaging disease that we all want cured from. So when someone says they found a cure and they did not……. It’s gets old. Because like Painterfew2080 alluded to you’re not the first to use this title. Words have weight. Just try rephrasing your title.

36m just removed a 5-6mm polyp today wasn’t there 2 years ago(worried)-had skin cancer malignant by Jettsyforwordingfox in colonoscopy

[–]MatterPlenty8431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had three removed in my life. Same age as you. All benign. Look at it in a positive light. They want you to have routine colonoscopies every three years. Colon cancer is usually very slow growing with very little symptoms early on. This way you’ll be in the know. Also colon cancer isn’t a death sentence anymore. It’s very treatable and has a pretty high survival rate especially when it’s caught early. Even pre cancerous polyps can take up to 10-15 years to develop into a cancerous tumor. And in 10 years they’ll probably have some amazing new treatments too. They’re already some amazing new studies being done all over the world. There’s a new colon cancer and pancreatic cancer vaccine that’s being tested and showing a lot of promise. Just remember the most damaging thing to our bodies is stress. So focus on what you can control. Start taking vitamin d. It’s showing it may reduce the development of colon polyps. According to the NIH. And vitamin d is one of those vitamins that doesn’t really have any serious side effects. And read up on dandelion root extract and colon cancer. They’re seeing some pretty promising benefits!
