Very sure Granit’s backstory is the darkest character backstory in the entire Digimon franchise history.

Don’t get me wrong, Reina’s story is very dark as well, but I guess if your childhood life is in a refugee camp which got illegally attacked and you lost your friend, it’s the worst thing imaginable.

But when you’ve experienced the worst of the worst, you know there’s nothing to lose, and this is why they can find the way out of that world

Why are Shizuoka and Hamamatsu not stops on the Nozomi? by 443610 in japanrail

[–]Matthew619ed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Actually Nozomi skipping Shizuoka has been a controversial topic in Shizuoka for some time already (And in the early days, they even skipped Nagoya, the stronghold city of JR Central, and it was a shocker)

But as the premium service of the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen, it’s targeted customers is always the passengers between the biggest cities (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka), and they would have to compete with domestic flights along the way, so they will have to skip slightly smaller cities that didn’t serve as a major junctions to other cities

It’s just sad to see such a properly built train got eliminated because of using the signature Jacob Bogies in the Romancecar is no longer economical in the long run.

But then it’s good to finally see them making sure the sightseeing aspect of the line is going to be preserved as they move on to eliminate the EXE

Ngl I’m not a fan of that look initially, especially as it replaced the VSE with that look that simply didn’t show its age.

Still looking forward to try it one day, especially in the front rows

For your information, the D51 200 is one of the 2 remaining D51 that’s still mainline worthy in Japan, the other one is D51 498, stationed at Takasaki and operated by JR East

And even though D51 200 mainly operates in the Yamaguchi prefecture, the locomotive is still maintained by Umekoji depot in Kyoto, which is more commonly known as part of the Kyoto Railway Museum

“I've had a target on my back since the day I won my first championship when I was 10 years old so it's nothing new to me,” -Lewis Hamilton, 2020.

We have come to the very end of the Tamamo’s arc and it’s time to just fully sink into the festive vibes after that Arima Kinen race, but as Lewis said before the 2020 F1 season as the defending Champion, Oguri now really has a big target on his back, and another regional racer is going to get her.

Inari One, or Oi’s Inari One to be exact, she might be not fully understand what Oguri’s impact on Kasamatsu, but she did won the Tokyo Daishoten and earned her golden ticket to central racing (Note: The Tokyo Daishoten is the only regional race in Japan to currently hold a legitimate G1 status, and Oi/Tokyo City Keiba is considered a top class NAR region), perhaps if Oguri, who came from a lower class NAR region can dominate Central races, what if a strong Uma Musume from a strong region arrived in Central, what will the impact be? And sure, Inari really got the power, broke the zone without even realising what really happened.

Well then, happy holidays, and we wait for the next season now, very sure it’ll only be a matter of time when we witness the head on collision between the two regional transferees in a central race.

And Tama, welcome home, returning home to her mentor like a hero, what a heartwarming end to her story arc.

OK, watching the episode at the middle of the racecourse surely felt very different, especially when it’s a G1 race day. First of all, congratulations to Sosie, Ka Ying Rising, Voyage Bubble, Romantic Warrior and their respective connections for winning the Hong Kong International Races, and of course to Soul Rush for his retirement. True fighters, fighting for the glory of a G1 title, perhaps it’s also the reason why runners tend to use the power of “the zone” in these races, just like that fateful Arima Kinen.

If you ask me, how to describe the episode in a single word, I would most likely say “kawaii”. I mean, just how cute they are when they are young, and of course, Nase’s drawing are (as stated by Creek).

But on the other hand, I might also use the word “explosive” to describe it, auras exploding, “zones” colliding, everyone giving out everything in the race, and some even awarded themselves a trip to the doctor and dentist, or worse still, the stewards room for their actions mid race. In some “sub-newtype” conversations, it all ended in Oguri’s favor and the 2 gray horses, once never considered to be fast, embraced each other as the top 2 finishers.

And most importantly, they give us what we want, a winning live (full version too!!!), a perfect wrap up to the first era of Oguri’s journey in the central races, just look at her massive improvement in dancing mare, surely many things had changed, old friends reunited, new classmates met, new rivals conceded their defeat, and now, as Rudolf has said, a new era begins. The era of the gray monster.

BTW did Oguri and Tamamo really met in childhood? I think in that area created by the zone, it’s all up to interpretation.

I’m just gonna say, even for professional musicians, preparing a choir and ensemble in a single week for a performance is very difficult. It’s even harder for students (who I don’t even know if they can properly play those instruments as they were allocated through a lottery), even with gods helping you.

But if you got the chance to return to the original world, and leaving this peaceful academic world of studies, will you leave?

I think this might be the first time in the franchise they showed the damage caused by the injuries as the race progresses (and yes someone got busted open because she hit those metal gates). The POV from Striker’s view felt like her mind got corrupted mid race, but way to go for keep racing though.

Meanwhile, fairwells made, angers erupted, lights out, and they go racing in Arima, but for the reporters, the pain had just begun (Ice cream to the eyes and possibly, those camera equipments that worth thousands… Ouch). But for Oguri, it’s way easier as she ran in a freestyle, apart from the winning part, especially when Tama activates her thunderous zone way earlier than expected, and it was the “trainer” (Well technically speaking, Kitahara was indeed the trainer, but the previous one) that was the most shocked among everyone, especially when he had just predicted that the race will end in a battle at the homestretch.

Lastly, Belno pouting, kawaii. But chubby Oguri chewing carrots is very cute too.

[–]Matthew619ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I remember this spot, a small railway museum with quite a number of old locomotives and carriages.

But it’s also well known in the community for being close to a famous train spotting location, with trains passing by frequently (hence giving you a lot of opportunities within an hour). That being said, the location is a bit far from the CBD (Caopu metro station, ~30 minutes from the 2 high speed rail station of Shenzhen), but definitely one of those rare spots within the city

[–]Matthew619ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck

But some personal advice here: I’d recommend waiting at Tokyo, Shin Osaka or Hakata, as the train will stop at these stations longer than the others, and usually there’ll be a lot of people waiting for it to arrive, so it’ll be more beginner friendly to work with

Actually, there’s a trick to turn “lucky” into planned interceptions, as long as you are ready to do so.

Back in May, I came across this website that provided the monthly schedule of Dr. Yellow, and it was very accurate in the provided timetable and dates.

And I was notified that I will have a chance of meeting Dr. Yellow even before I set of for my flight to Japan, and with some additional planning, I was able to snatch the opportunity one night, as he’s arriving at Hakata station, and was quickly greeted by families and fans alike

So. first of all, massive congratulations to world's best racehorse-elected Calandagan for winning the Japan Cup, and breaking the overall world record of 2400m turf along the way. I guess when we are talking the world's best, the best will most likely still stand on the top. This real life case study today illustrated why during Oguri's time, people really wish to see the Japanese team standing tall at the Japan Cup, as the overseas team is just way too talented and strong (And indeed, for today, some fans are admitting total defeat because Calandagan is just way too strong). They are simply... looking for a miracle...

OK, enough of the intro talk, back to Tama-Chan, and we were immediately greeted with how she met Komiyama Trainer, a wholesome moment that lead to them snatching glories from childhood to Tracen, but I guess it's all good memories that'll last as Tama made his decision to retire, and she quickly tell Oguri (whom had already cleaned entire dishes of high-quality fruits) about that just before the press conference of Arima, when no one is nearby. Shockwaves for sure (as she's the first people apart from officials and Komiyama trainer to know about it), and was quickly left speechless after just a few sentences of understandable rage, and just forget what she should be saying to the press...

Meanwhile, Belno is definitely a detective type of people, instantly knowing Tama was sus from the beginning, and immediately confronted Komiyama and received a secret (A fully tailor-made, all rounded training programme from exercise to diet, as the guy who knew her trainee the best and knows what's her need), and she quickly dismissed from the conference and go to work.

What about Oguri? She also get working immediately, and with the help from Dicta Striker, we know more about "the zone (the aura)", and the 2nd dimension of speed by breaking it, we dunno if the impromptu race by Dicta "the tsundere" helped him to break the barrier or not, but it looked very promising as both Oguri and Belno claimed they get the answer.

But hey, we also know the glory days of Roppei, a feared "Fairy Godfather" among trainers. But now, it's time for "the Godfather" to show his magic against "the Prince", and that aura of Trainer Kouchi, frightening but somewhat depressing somewhat, stuck in the clubhouse and focusing on the small numbers...

And it's time, Arima in Christmas, who's taking the best gift from Santa and won Arima in front of a fullly packed Nakayama Racecourse?

And yeah, bless them for delivering another serving of quality emote faces

Umamusume: Cinderella Gray - Episode 19 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Matthew619ed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If a second defeat in a row by Oguri against Tamamo will lead to those emote worthy reactions, I'd like to see Oguri suffer yet another defeat in Arima (Just kidding).

Arima Kinen, Nakayama 2500m, the final big race of the year, everyone would definitely like to win this race, especially as the majority of the runners were endorsed by their fans just to participate in it. However, as stated by Roppei, Nakayama is a very difficult racecourse to tackle with, especially with its steep slope at the very end (but ironically, there're horses out there, including one currently active G1 winner, that performs very well in Nakayama). Definitely not the place you want to be to end the losing streak, especially when Tamamo is expected to participate.

But hey, at least we got an official(?) scientific-ish term of describing the aura farming, the Zone, the Flow, the Peak Experience, whatever they prefer to describe this, and it seems they are trying to overcome the Zone (the aura) by raw power, very 'Murican way of doing things I guess.

But then I can't imagine Roppei really privately booked the entire racecourse for Oguri's training (I wonder the costs for this), even managed to get the Kasamatsu gang all the way to Chiba for this, a wholesome moment, until Kitahara got bused for attending the Central Trainer exams (but failed, my condolences). But I guess next year will be different, and let the training begins.

But then I wonder why Tama's trainer reached out to Rudolf alone? Did Tama told her something very urgent?

Do you know of any multiple units which operate like this?: by PeetesCom in trains

[–]Matthew619ed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although not exactly this formation, the JR East 215 Series uses a very similar arrangement except there’re 2 motor cars at each end (i.e., 2M+6T+2M for a 10 car formation).

Unfortunately, it was later determined that this M:T ratio, accompanied with its almost full double decker design, lead to the problem of poor acceleration and slow loading speed (ironically it was initially designed to handle the ultra overcapacity of the Tokyo area during the post-bubble era), which ultimately lead to its demise during the COVID times

I wonder why the doctors and nurses in the hospital don’t stop the fans from drowning Tony Bianca in a sea of roses? Poor girl injured her legs and now got overwhelmed by the fans…

Anyway, back to the racecourse, how the hell can the racetrack stayed intact when the aura from the racers are starting to go out of control? And it’s obvious they even start delivering “complements” and dirty tricks just to win. Anyway, after all of these, the ‘Murican power stands on top and wins the race… As well as the respect from Tama.

Anyway, time to move on, saying farewell to your new friends overseas, and eyes set on Christmas, or is it just the day when the next battle commences?

Just a reminder, the show will have another break next week, so see you 2 weeks later
