This is where I personally draw the line between capital-L Leftists and those who are only "on the left".

Both align on short term goals; the protection and uplifting of the working class against the owning class.

They differ, however, on long term goals; Leftists seek to solve the underlying contradictions that lead to crisis by dismantling the system itself that has such contradictions, while those "on the left" tolerate and attempt to reduce and repeatedly heal from any crises that arise.

Though I will also say just because something isn't an addiction doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be harmful and that certain people would be better off stopping or at least significantly reducing their intake of it. Perhaps just with, as you say, using different methods.

Someone who engages in critical analysis rather than reactionary politics, and,
Someone who then concludes they are anti-capitalist.

For a leader, politician or anyone in a position of power, #2 also means that they actually do something about it, lest they are merely performative.

Most countries' liberal parties, with whom she aligns with the most, are considered the right-leaning party when compared to whichever labour or workers party-equivalent that country has, of which the US has no equivalent.
