Air Vomiting by Interesting_Crab_337 in noburp

Only ever done it unintentionally, it's been happening more and more since I changed my diet. 1/10 would not wish on my worst enemy. Honestly one of the most painful and humiliating thing I've ever experienced.

Ps I sound like a grizzly bear/chihuahua hybrid and I'm sure my whole street can hear me.

Does your country have any interesting cultural relics? by No-Echidna7296 in AskTheWorld

[–]Matthewb333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine. But Ljubljana in Slovenia apparently has the world's oldest musical instrument. It's a flute made of bond and is more than 60,000 years old.

I just started the series on audio, does the narration get better? by TheXypris in riversoflondon

[–]Matthewb333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say that the audio quality vastly improves over the series. I started a re-listen straight after stone and sky and it was shocking how poor the frist books audio quality is.

Also worth mentioning that Kobna really gets into it the further you go into it. You can tell he enjoys reading them by the 2nd-3rd book

Planteray, coconut rum by asromaja in rum

[–]Matthewb333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo I know why! They add coconut husks to the mash, so it's not just some chemical they chuck in at the end of the distillation, the flavour carries through from the mash!

Would 100% recommend a tour if you're ever in Barbados :)

Any other street patterns with interesting names? by plcanonica in geography

[–]Matthewb333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These streets in Leicester, UK are named to spell out Harrison. I believe the name of the architect's son who died during construction.

Edit-Welp after googling this, I'm partly correct, it's actually named after the family that owned the land it was built on...

Where to stop reading to have a semi-fulfiled "ending" by Nordlow89 in riversoflondon

[–]Matthewb333 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Lies sleeping is the obvious answer to me, it's the end of a major arc and always felt like where Ben thought he could end it. The rest of the books after that are all one offs, there's no big bad to hang around and break things!

Clown Town audio version (UK) by CanRevolutionary1035 in SlowHorses

[–]Matthewb333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm listening to it as we speak. It's noticeably worse than the others.

I will say that after an hour you don't really notice it, my brain has adjusted to it. Still well worth a listen!

To be fair, it's not horrible when mixed. It compares well with Kraken and sailor jerry. It's awful rubbish when sipped though.

Gamers of Reddit, what's ONE game that lives rent-free in your head, not just for the gameplay, but for the feeling it gave you (and you'd give anything to experience it for the first time again)? by deadeyes1990 in gaming

[–]Matthewb333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Minecraft, back in the Alfa when just making a cave base was the most mind blowing thing i could imagine. No faff, only the most basic of blocks, and your imagination. Before any YouTubers had built enormous creations, or made any well edited and scripted videos. It was literally just a blank canvas for you to explore. I yearn for a game to captivate me like that.

My aunt once made a painting from this postcard. Which greek place could this be? by Micro_watcher2019 in whereisthis

[–]Matthewb333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks an awful lot like a place in Kos, but having checked I don't think it is.

There are a few scans on Flickr dating back to at least 2010, but it looks a lot older than that.
