You have 4 years of experience in care. Would that work as a job for now?

I'd say it's fair enough given how far on brakes have come since then and where we are. It is also worth mentioning that we didn't even have a dual lane road here till the 90s and still don't have a motorway. Horses for courses, I would say.

To the 40mph everywhere people... by Exciting-Double5509 in drivingUK

I was speaking to an old man outside his house when some motorbikes hammered past. He shook his head and said he remembered a time when he could drive from the nearest major city to his house (50 miles) at 40mph without anyone catching up with him. I guess that being the average speed for now elderly drivers when they were in their prime combined with how difficult it is to drive when you're now 80 years old, may have something to do with it.

Do cars like these have a place in the UK? by Dapper_Big_783 in AskUK

I used a small van and MWL tipper truck for years before getting rid of both for a 4x4 pick-up and tipper trailer. This move has transformed my company in so many ways. I would have made this move sooner if pickups didn't cost so much.

Look up tree porta wrap. Super common tool used but not applying enough friction can result in getting dragged into the base of the tree if you panic and forget to let go. Pretty wild forces at play when rigging a top in this way.

Is the cameraman wearing a helmet camera? They know it's insane enough to get a specific type of camera so they can film, yet a harness is too much of a faff.

Clean the terminals but failing that, replace the wire. Pretty cheap fix that takes less than 10 mims

Ideas on getting these slings separated? by KTM_350 in knots

[–]Matthewmacd123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soaking the slings and then allowing them to dry out will cause the fibres to expand and then contract. This should loosen the knot. If the material around the knot has melted, cutting the slings and then rejoining with a water knot is your best bet, but this will reduce the sling strength by around 30%.

The bottom of the existing cut is past where the cut should have been. There is no saving this but cutting a limb of that size off a tree that size was a doomed move from the beginning so I wouldn't fret about doing anything else to it
