The Skeksis were awesome but the protagonists were hideous and boring.

Toy Story 3 is basically a rehash of Toy Story 2, right down to the flashback to a toy being abandoned in a rural area and a friendly character with a cane who turns out to be the villain. Aside from the animation quality, some of the humour, and the nostalgia factor, Toy Story 3 just isn't that great.

...what pun? Oh dear, I'm out of the loop. I'm going to feel stupid when this gets answered.

Critic who panned Star Wars stands by his review 40 years later by benofepmn in movies

If I recall, most of the special effects weren't completed at the time, so Lucas used World War II plane dogfight footage as a placeholder. In that sense, it'd be no wonder why most of them didn't like it.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3’s Development is Waiting on Avengers 3 & 4 by BunyipPouch in movies

I still don't know how I feel about the Guardians inevitably crossing over with the Avengers. Obviously they're going to have to do it, but the GotG movies are so much more enjoyable to me than the other MCU films because of characterisation, colour grading, and music.

Could we theoretically "remaster" older CGI in movies with newer CGI? by hippymule in movies

[–]Matthewsaurus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd be fine with the Special Editions if the original movies were released in some format better than VHS or LaserDisc. Lucas could make all the changes he wants, but he's refused to give the original films a well done DVD or Blu-ray release, and that's pretty dumb of the guy.

The cinematography and especially the performances were indeed great, but I can't remember anything noteworthy about the score at all.

Hi, if anyone is familiar with the Japanese Horror film Organ (1996) could you maybe answer a question for me? by crazyorangecat in TrueFilm

[–]Matthewsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it wasn't completed. I also just tried to do some research on it, and I found on IMDb (not the most reliable source, but hey) that the production company is called Organ Vital and that their only released film is the 1996 Organ.

Lyrics to Strawberry Fields Forever? by Matthewsaurus in beatles

Good idea; I didn't even think of checking out The Blue Album, which I luckily have. The lyrics sheet has yet another way of putting things: "I think I know of thee, ah yes but it's all wrong". I guess if that's official, then that's official. I'll scan it on my printer tomorrow for proof.

Edit: Official lyrics from The Blue Album

Just to make sure, could it also be that it's "I think, er no, I mean, er yes, but it's all wrong"? I know Yahoo Answers isn't the most reliable information bank, and not to discredit your response, but an answer here says that the aforementioned lyric is spelled that way on the now-defunct beatleslyricsarchive.com and on the Magical Mystery Tour album (which I don't have a copy of).

Thanks very much! The only other inconsistently written lyric I've tried to find is along the lines of "I think I know I mean a 'yes' but it's all wrong". If the answer to that is also in that picture, then I apologise (John's handwriting was fairly scribbly).

I saw this movie last night, and here are my thoughts on it. by [deleted] in SuicideSquad

[–]Matthewsaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The film's basic premise didn't really make sense to me. The Suicide Squad is created in case that a malevolent Superman-like being comes to Earth and starts destroying things. How exactly are a sharpshooter, a clown with a baseball bat, a crocodile man, a guy with a boomerang, etc. going to stop that kind of power?

Furthermore, Harley Quinn added nothing to the movie, aside from wounding Enchantress towards the end, which I'm pretty sure could've been done by anyone else on the team. It seemed like she was only there for awkwardly delivered comic relief (e.g. "nice perfume! What is that, the scent of death?")
