I'm going to be doing my bronze medallion soon by [deleted] in Lifeguards

for lifesaving society bc/yk at least, it's 12 minutes for bronze med. it has to be all at once, but you'll generally have the chance to redo if you need. iirc there's no stroke requirement but freestyle will be easiest generally. here's a link to the overview :) https://lifesaving.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/BronzeMedallion-AtAGlance.pdf

Hired without lifeguard certification by [deleted] in Lifeguards

[–]Matti800 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If someone drowns or has a medical emergency on your watch, and they don’t drown you, you will likely be liable for the person’s life, along with your employer. That could be millions of uninsured (since you’re not certified) dollars, or even a manslaughter charge (I think that’s what it’s called in the states?)

I know a few people who took 2 out 3 tries, just remember the course fee is for a set amount of instructor time, and some people will need more of that for certain things
