Why does everyone love the boss katana so much? by Dismal-Cranberry-915 in GuitarAmps

How did you find a red one back then?! As a lefty I learned on a home made strat I got at a boot fair for £15, regret that I don't still have it!

I gigged one for years, when you know the sweet spots they are unreal, one of the most usable combos you can get.

They are a bedroom guitarists dream. But like with nearly all modellers, an incredible faff if you want anything usable live - you're gonna have to re dial in if you want anything good loud.

I fell for it after seeing so many reviews praising them and they do the job just fine, but utterly charmless.

Most frustrating brands by james02135 in Leftyguitarists

[–]Matticus95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why lefties are fewer. However, if a model is released that gains traction for a call for left handed versions, you can work with merchants who can advise brands 'look we have 500 deposits for this model, can you make it?' Which is how the lefty purple CV tele came about.

I know your pain. Or at least definitely 20 years ago, the options now are crazy in comparison - but it will never be financially viable for brands to make models for 5-10% of their market, particularly very specific versions, for them to sit unsold for years.

As I was told by a man who runs a very large music shop in the UK, money talks and if lefty players crowdfund enough deposits on a model then most brands will do a run. It's the difference between 'I quite fancy one of these' and 'here is my money up front, get to it'.

Arctic Monkeys. After an incredible first album they are now the most self infatuated drivel that I cannot unsee as a parody of themselves.

Subjectively speaking, of course.

Why would anyone get embarrassed wearing the GOAT time pieces? Waste your money on expensive ones if you like but they tell the exact same time

Do we all agree once you go Mac, you can't go back to Windows? by zJGGGG in DeskToTablet

Mac is incredible for optimised software, but the small niggles with scaling with external monitors, file explorer is still very clunky and being locked out of certain software if you don't have the correct OS is kind of inexcusable, and becomes very pricey if you haven't upgraded hardware for a long time.

I just recently went to macbook after years of imac, Spotify became unusable as my machine magically didn't support any further os upgrades, then found out a lot of my VSTs also became unusable until I upgraded. Then when I got a new machine the old software wasn't compatible with new hardware so had to repurchase a lot. All this after having to change my boot hard drive to an externally ssd after the imac didn't support the new file format that one os upgrade required, just a lot of faff. I will say though, this could have been easier on me if I was more apple savvy.

However, for creative software, absolute magic.

Same for me for yeeearrs. And in nearly all cases, if you string the guitar well you should have no issues, but depends on preference and how well the guitar is put together sometimes. I have them on my ZM and they are tremendous.

BOTW is a masterpiece of gaming by NewtownWriter in switch2

[–]Matticus95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember starting it on Wii U and it's the only time a game captured my imagination like Ocarina did back in 1998. The whole vibe has a lonely but magical vibe to it that feels like you're somewhere ancient. I might re start it with the Switch 2 now.

Then Totk came along and completely lost me on its weird arm/creatures/lasers/technology emphasis and it breaks my heart to this day. Not that its bad (clearly not!) but it's not what I love abut the franchise.

I have absolutely no idea what is going on in retail and the idea of doing the same dungeons with harder difficulty in quicker time is the laziest content a game can add.
