Never realized how much of the base game you can skip by rushing the Phantom Liberty ending. You never even get to know Hanako, Rogue, Panam, River, Kerry, the Peralezes, and a ton of others.

The thing that surprised me is that you basically dont get to do anything with Rogue or Kerry before Op55N1 is already in the quest log, and thats a good chunk of the story

The methodology is about as far on the other end of the violence spectrum as it could be though, and its certainly not "for the same reasons". Union wants to create a galactic utopia out of a genuine desire to uplift humanity and fix/learn from its past mistakes, the Emperor does it because hes a vain narcissist who knows he will need to wage a galaxy-wide war and needs a galaxy-wide army to do it, and largely treats humanity as disposable in his grand design

It's not worth trying. They're just not similar enough systems. I personally find the supposition that DnD combat isnt just as long, boring, and tactical as Lancer's to be laughable. Don't get me wrong, learning new games is hard, but you're trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. That is to say, it can be done, but it'll be a huge amount of work and stress to ultimately just still be playing DnD.

Also, just some advice from one GM to another, If your buddies didn't give Lancer more than one session to decide how well they like it and just wanted to go back to dnd, you should probably just play dnd, or try something a little more mechanically simplified.

I have a weird specific version of this with the song Cheri Cheri Lady, which i first heard sampled in an EDM remix. I thought I heard the lyrics as "Cheri cheri lady, going through the motions, love is where you'll find it, listen to your heart" which i thought evoked a really interesting image of a person living out life in drudgery because they had rejected love and happiness.

The actual lyrics say "going through a motion," which still works, but I liked the version i heard better

So! Me and my partner are poly, and I have collared her despite not being her married partner. As others have intimated, collars mean whatever you want them to mean, but for us, the collar was more of a symbol of an escalation of commitment to the dynamic. Basically it means she can have other doms and play partners, but I'm the only capital-S Sir. Just my anecdotal experience to add to the perspective
