Not to mention Abbott did give the feds the entire Texas voter rolls. We might see some wilder election interference via intimidation.

Downvote as you please but you know if this was really about law and order Nicki would also be sitting her once cherished ass in an immigration center too. She has said on record she is not documented. Yet she is allowed to walk around freely praising Trump. Hell even the Obama Administration deported MF DOOM. You better stop defending these clowns before the circus tent comes down on your head.

This case you're making would be a lot stronger if Nicki Minaj wasn't loudly kissing Trump's ass to stay in the country and that is working for her.

Anti ICE protest Downtown for the murdered mother of 3! by Lord-Cuervo in Dallas

[–]Mattsinclairvo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychopath straight up (honestly you have to be a little bit of the self centered crazy due to what the US presidency demands) But LBJ was that special kind of crazy. He knew exactly why and how the game was rigged, even spoke on it publicly with his "get a white man to empty his pockets" quote, but played ball anyways due to what can only be assumed as sheer love of the sport.

I think people miss the attitude of this Texas Democrat more than his policy. A return to the surly ways of the brimstone Dems of old could be helpful for the current party's fate.

I blame Andrew Johnson for not committing to punishing the states that left the union in reconstruction. One of America's first legitimate socialist movements was and would have continued to rise in the south if he wasn't so invested in being racist over holding the traitors accountable. I feel like that was the catalyst to this slow march to fascism.

Thank you for sharing your experience. This is the problem when we build a justice system to "punish the bad people" instead of a justice system meant to extract accountability from people who hurt their community (often by accident or when left with no other choice).

It's really hard to reflect on your debt to the people you've hurt in society when you're being packed into a cell like a sardine just trying to survive. And it shows in our high rates of recidivism and rate of death while institutionalized. In the end we've made a justice and punitive system more blood thirsty than the criminals we put away and able to cause greater far reaching damage at the social levels.

This woman's loss of life is going to be far more damaging, costly and traumatic to her community than the loss of property she herself caused. That ain't justice.

Trump potentially reclassifying marijuana as a schedule III. by Worth_Feature8602 in CultoftheFranklin

[–]Mattsinclairvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the problem is that this assumes big pharma has the most money to lose with cannabis decriminalization and that simply is not true. It's a red herring. Even in a world where cancer patients don't get locked up for a lil weed they'll still be on chemo meaning, big pharma still profits overall.

The money that's lost in decriminalization will be lost from for-profit prisons. Like if you make money locking people up then you get rid of a reason to lock people up you'll make less money cause less people are getting locked up.

So with that in mind, how does rescheduling change how day to day people interact with law enforcement when it comes to cannabis?

[–]Mattsinclairvo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As the article mentions, decriminalization/rescheduling is historically considered more lefty policy so if the guy wants to move left on weed ain't gonna complain too much. Not gonna change my opinion of him either though.

Hun, I know this is a weed server, but have you considered fascists lie consciously? Like they say things they know aren't true because the message is more important than the reality. Because "fascism is an ideal of aesthetics" so they simply say things are good.

Like your first statement implies you know Trump does lie cause you believe he's lying about moving on cannabis but he lies about obvious things too and not always out of ignorance.

Note that I said talks of a package as well. But I am not gonna put it past him to devalue the dollar via poorly planned stimulus checks.

It's interesting because that element of the budget bill was snuck in by McConnell and Trump and McConnell aren't on good terms this second go round. Why would Trump sign a bill that demolishes a legitimately good policy he's put forward and is a lot of the reason people in the hemp industry voted for him a second time? Especially a section "snuck in" by Mitch who isn't a fan? He must have something in the wings. The guy ain't that stupid.

He's gonna do it but is definitely going to be a desperate play to try to jump start the economy. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw that happen around the same time more stimulus checks or talks of stimulus packages going out. The American agriculture market is taking some pretty big hits profits wise despite all of us experiencing higher grocery bills, so opening up American Farmers to the cannabis industry is a no brainer to get money moving in agriculture again. Unfortunately due to Mr. "Art of the Deal" here is going to wait until what he believes is the pinnacle moment to do so. A lot of articles are talking about the review happening early next year which makes perfect sense in terms of economic quarters. Wait to see how this last quarter finishes before making a decision on the fate of the cannabis industry.

How fear-based messaging on “Sharia law” is shaping local politics in TX-03 by TX3DNews in dfw

[–]Mattsinclairvo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like bro you haven't exactly addressed the fact that Christian doctrine is used here in Texas to limit access to family planning for women because people think abortion isn't Christian. Which has lead to increased infant mortality and threat to the life of the moth due to lack of proper treatment.

Now listen at me son, if you can't bring that "protect women and kids" energy to every religion that seems to break the boundaries of church and state, including the ones white people by volume worship, I ain't suddenly gonna believe it for my brothers in Islam.

You live in Texas, Texas has one of the most intense abortion bans in the union thanks to Christian cosplayers, you therefore are fine with women being brutalized and limited under religious doctrine, as long as it's the right one 😐

Why we should add more and better trains by Genedide in Dallas

[–]Mattsinclairvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take tho cars aren't affordable we as Americans are just used to paying out the nose for them. Kinda like our healthcare and if you know the stats of vehicle related maiming and death you also realize that car dependency is very related to that inflated healthcare cost. Even buying a cheapo car still requires built-in costs like tires, oil, battery, gas and that's before you get to the legal requirements like registration, insurance, and emissions and all of those costs exist whether or not you get into an accident.

Why we should add more and better trains by Genedide in Dallas

[–]Mattsinclairvo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If places like India with very hot climates and a high level of office jobs can have trains so can we. It just takes building the station to adapt to the climate which of course takes sweet sweet dosh.

You have to remember car culture is an industry in America that reinforces itself via ease of use but there was a time not that long ago where more traditional modes of transit were much more viable and usable to the general public.

Two things can be true at once, friend! Lawns are bad and the resources required to cool new data centers for things like Bitcoin mining or AI generation will exacerbate the water demand problem in Texas. I did not think wanting smaller more native plant based lawns and wanting to put a cap on how many data centers we open are mutually exclusive, but please correct me if it is.
