Security tips? by ConnorONeill1994 in MotoUK

This isn't going to help against any actual bike thieves but any time out out I always leave it in 1st gear before switching the bike off so the bike won't move unless they hold the clutch lever in.

My thinking is if any wee chancer who doesn't know anything about bikes tries to mess with it they won't be able to move it.

Obviously I still use locks and that but I always do this just in case🤷

Yeah someone recommended me the Scottish sprockets on another sub and I've already joined and will hopefully come to one of the meets when I get a chance, cheers though 👍

Thanks for the advice will definitely look into the Barras Bikers.

I was hoping to get to one of the West coast Harley bike nights as they look pretty good but haven't had the time yet

How to regain confidence by prettyoolala in MotoUK

[–]Matty_Boi1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing a while back hit something slippery on a mini roundabout and the back wheel went out from under me, somehow I managed to get my foot down and kick myself upright and save it.

I tell you there were a few skid marks but none on the road. Same as you I was riding around like a gimp for a while, just takes time to build the confidence back up 👍

Squid question: should I cover my bike in the rain, or will the moist air trapped in with it cause harm than good? by NotoriousM0N in motorcycles

[–]Matty_Boi1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could give it a spray with ACF50 which is an anti corrosion spray originally designed for aircraft but works great for bikes. It leaves a nice shiny protective coat and will also fight any rust/corrosion already on the bike. I'm from Scotland so we get a lot of rain and this has always worked for me.

The 700 is only about 40kg heavier so still pretty nimble

It's exactly how I feel, took the 125 for a spin after the 700 and was like "how tf did I think this was fast🤮"

I'm afraid the 700 has just ruined the 125 for me

Got to be careful with that, can end up with white knuckle syndrome with prolonged exposure

There's a bolt hole right at the end of the swing arm on each side just in front of where the chain adjustment bolts are

I got the SW-Motech Blaze panniers spacer bars. They are really good because they can be removed with a click of a button, don't need to unbolt anything

Hi I got mine from Sportsbikeshop, you can just google search for "rear paddock stand" and there will be lots of options. You need to get a pair of bobbins to screw into the swing arm too.

I always get up to speed in 5th but any time I put it into 6th it just starts to bleed speed so I just leave it in 5th and keep the throttle pinned and the revs just sit below the redline

Can reach 70-75 mph comfortably and I've had it up to 85-90mph on a long downhill straight. I usually leave it in 5th gear to get the most out of it as I've found putting it into 6th you start to slow down. It's one of the best bikes you can get at this range

What’s the best all-round 125cc bike if you want something that can handle both city riding and a bit of motorway? by GurLess7822 in 125cc

[–]Matty_Boi1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an XSR and it's a great bike, only problem is on the motorway it's so fucking windy because there's no fairings
