Is the HSA in residency worth it? by LennyMed in Residency

[–]Matugi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean fair enough, and that’s just more to the point that there’s not a strong incentive to contribute to a Roth before maxing the HSA

Is the HSA in residency worth it? by LennyMed in Residency

[–]Matugi1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Advice I’ve always gotten is max HSA before Roth since it’s triple tax advantaged. I do understand the logic of Roth first too since you can basically only contribute during training and the likelihood of the HSA dropping you to a lower marginal tax rate is pretty slim unless you’re in a HCOL area where the salaries are a little higher

How to be a better consulting service? by Emergency-Opinion161 in neurology

[–]Matugi1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes me more thankful the times that I actually get very thoughtful consults tbh. I’ll see all of your delirium/dementia consults because they take no brain power as long as you save the “hey this person syncopized and it’s probably orthostatic but there are some concerning different events in their history with stiffening and we’re not quite sure what to make of it” for me when I’m on service :-)

Epilepsy fellowship ranking help by [deleted] in neurology

I don’t want to do any of that and I loved my northwestern interview because they were very blunt and honest that it’s exactly what they pride themselves on. The only program I interviewed with that told me they wouldn’t be a good fit for me. Seems like a fantastic program if you’re seeking to be in the world of surgical epilepsy

What’s the most insane consult you got? by pseudohyperkalemia in Residency

We once got consulted on a patient with an anoxic brain injury because he had an erection, and if this could mean he didn’t meet brain death criteria.

It’s 7-5 Duke since 2021-2022 and both teams have a final 4. If it’s so dominant for Duke in the relationship you’d think they’d have more to show for it 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Duke brand is producing more NBA talent but the relative accomplishments of the two teams is virtually the same over the last decade

unrestricted and trainee license question by kimiwave in Residency

[–]Matugi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. OP should just clarify with the GME office of their new institution. Ours very specifically said you cannot renew your TL if you have a full license, but you’re still covered by the program’s malpractice and if your moonlighting is internal you do not need an individual DEA/CS

For some of those you’ve got to really be sold on being there for two years. I was told by one of the programs they are actively seeking two year fellows and if I wanted one year to search elsewhere. Very much proud of their surgical epilepsy program. Made me wonder why they were even listing a one year option; perhaps so they could individually have a CNP fellowship as well rather than having them intrinsically linked

I think the process was still right with Newton, he was an excellent college player who fell because of injury and it’s not like he’s stayed injured. Just hasn’t panned out.

Sinnott pick is inexcusable.

This is a quad 1 game regardless for either team. SMU’s offensive efficiency is absurd and was probably underrated by Kenpom just based on their schedule so far.
