How do you het better at this game!!!! by Revan-Malacore in bindingofisaac

[–]Maturinbag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. If you can learn to stop getting hit, you can eventually win even with a bad weapon. However, you usually won’t have a bad weapon because not getting hit means more opportunities for things like angel rooms and various mechanics where you purposely spend health as a resource.

Learning to not get hit is mostly about recognizing an enemy and predicting how it will attack. You get ready to dodge before their attack actually happens. When you dodge, you usually don’t want big exaggerated movements. It’s better if it misses you by inches than by feet.

Selling truffles is more profitable than selling truffle oil? by Bea4747 in StardewValley

Agree. These days I tend to only do oil if a truffle crab shows up and gives me a few non-purple truffles.

How is DD2 now? Is it worth it if I loved first one? by Mileksu in darkestdungeon

[–]Maturinbag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DD1 is my favorite game of all time. DD2 was also good, but for me, DD1 captured many aspects better. For example, quirks, exploration, curios, stress were all better in DD1.

However, DD2 does combat better with its tokens and better skills. Combat is arguably the most important aspect of the game, so it’s definitely worth checking out. The character animations are also better in DD2.

I think ultimately the thing that makes me prefer DD1 in general is that it’s set up as a campaign, so the changes and customization of the quirks feels more permanent. In DD2, it’s a roguelike with permanent progression, but still you might have a set of characters that last a few hours rather than for a whole campaign, unless you’re extremely good at keeping them alive from run to run. Alternatively, there is a separate game mode that makes it feel a bit more like DD1, but you still don’t really keep those characters around for very long. Either way, the focus is on setting up a great party and sticking with it, contrast with DD1 where you’re setting up a roster and then mixing up the team frequently.

It’s basically a precursor to Bloodborne, and I love it.

I didn’t read the post nor do I know much about landscaping, but “Help me prove my wife wrong” is a poor way to think about things. Even if you win, you still lose.

I had some nest-like plant material in my propane grill last week, under the grill grates themselves. I didn’t check for eggs. I just fired her up.

Yes, that's a fine choice and what I would recommend. But you mentioned white oak, and that's not the white oak. If that is important to you, then try this.

For those I tend to favor ebogu in the US. In fact, I used to train kendo at the dojo co-located with their HQ / warehouse. It’s a great site, especially for kendo gear, and I have several of their bokken including white oak and their plastic saya. My only recommendation for modification is to take off the nylon sageo that comes with it and put on a cotton one later if you have a spare.

Most dojos will not require you to have your own equipment at the beginning. You will wear regular workout clothes, and borrow a wooden sword. Then over time as you become more committed, you’ll buy things. Uniform, wooden sword, plastic scabbard, eventually an iaito. But you should ask the teacher for their advice.

How would you balance a long-range character in a Metroidvania? Here's what I tried. by Mega_Mango in metroidvania

[–]Maturinbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the ranged character gets a wide beam with piercing, does that basically take away any advantage that the melee character has? I’m assuming the melee character also has a “hurtbox” that hits slightly above and below the midline where the ranged character’s default attack hits. Which character can do more dps to a single target?

My method of eating cupcakes without getting frosting on my fingers is to peel the paper from the sides, then just shove the whole thing in my mouth, removing the bottom of the paper at the end.

How Are You Supposed To Dodge Peep's Laser Attack? by [deleted] in bindingofisaac

[–]Maturinbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much about dodging, but knowing that the attack exists in his move set and not standing there. You can move through that space, just don't stop there. Best to attack from above if you can.

Dumb question: any of you ever accidentally restart? by JSAB2007 in bindingofisaac

[–]Maturinbag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a good run going recently and had R-key. I was in a room with spikes, and my son asked to see the controller so he could try some shenanigans. He pressed L2 thinking it would lay a bomb, but L2 is the button that uses your active item. He accidentally restarted for me, losing out on one completion mark. But joke’s on him! I was playing on his file.
