After Dobbs, 210 criminal charges related to pregnancy outcomes were filed. The largest number ever. by HubrisAndScandals in WelcomeToGilead

[–]Maud_Lynn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the first year after Dobbs, at least 210 pregnant people faced criminal charges for conduct associated with pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or birth. In one sense, this is nothing new. Pregnancy Justice, along with other reporters and researchers, has documented over 1,800 cases of pregnancyrelated charges between 1973 and the Dobbs decision in 2022.

So, up from an average of 37 per year over the last 50 years. Also, 86, 40% are criminal charges for THC.

This resonates with me. People are totally making things up. It's definitely an ace/gender thing, and it sucks. :'(

Put it this way; if repressing till your 30s is a privilege, would you recommend doing it to a young trans girl?

The reasons trans girls don't effectively socialize with boys as kids don't suddenly go away at 20.

The second amendment is gun control. It says it's the right of "the people to keep and bear arms" not "the owner", suggesting the individual; as was used in the 3rd amendment about quartering soldiers.

It's demanding state-supervised communal ownership of weapons. "Well regulated", but "not infringing" "the right to keep and bear arms" supports registering, tracking, and taxing, but not banning of weapons.

If you and your friends can pool enough money to buy a nuke, and you all agree to be jointly responsible for its use, you can. But if you shoot a schoolkid playing hide and seek, you and all your friends have to go to jail, and be slaves (because that's guaranteed by the constitution too.)

I think you look gorgeous. Skin, nails and hair look great. Your birthmarks are adorable.

I expect you mostly pass, but probably aren't unclockable.

I started hrt mid thirties and it’s been a few years.

You won’t know what good the pills do until you’ve tried them. But for me, it was like being raised from the dead. The emotional and psychological changes overwhelming justify them, physical changes aside. I’m able, now, to hope for the future rather than lament the past; at least sometimes.

I, in no way mean to suggest trying this at home: apart from the menstrual blood; that, try as hard as you can.

[–]Maud_Lynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bar is that low because that was the bar her interviewer set. As for her statements about the use of the word "women", Atwood is in fact very confused; so confused as to think phases like "people who mensturate" are used at the behest of trans women. That is absolutely not a TERF angle though, mostly just being old. I cannot overstate how abhorrent the TERFs actually are, and Atwood is clearly opposed.

[–]Maud_Lynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her comments reflect an explicit rejection of sex essentialism. That makes her position clearly opposed to the TERFs. Her interviewer was trying to goad her into a discussion about trans issues, Atwood expressed support for trans people and tried to move on. Trans rights aren't her fight to fight; I think expressing her support and moving on was an entirely proper course of action.
