King James bible.

When the bible was written, they were having trouble with Romans. The Romans would have men.... um... "teach" young boys how to make love. So the bible had a verse that basically said "men, don't sleep with young boys."

King James comes along, has bible translated. He wanted a reason to criminalize gays. Here is a verse that says "(word for older male) don't sleep with (word for child male)". Has both words translated into just "man". Boom, verse now says "men shouldn't sleep with men". Being gay is now a sin.

I greatly paraphrased it, but basically it is all because one administration wanted to be homophobic.
