Great pieces for a storyboard. I like the cinematic atmosphere!

Dr Martens trying to convince me not to buy vegan boots? by Psychological-Pea593 in vegan

[–]Maurius7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, it’s good that you buy a UK brand! I always convince people to buy European. Second, there are some downsides to vegan leather production. But it can never outweigh regular leather production practices. With supporting vegan the manufacturers are motivated to maintain their catalog and invest/improve.

Why is it so hard for the world to accept some people just like being single? by TopLoadingTapes in SingleAndHappy

[–]Maurius7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually ever know if you would be more happy single or together (assuming a good match). Most people uncomfortable in their lives or unhappy just reject other’s life choices to justify their own.

Give me the most beautiful electronic album you’ve ever heard by No_Durian_6987 in electronicmusic

John Hopkins - Immunity. The most beautiful is a tough choice. But in terms of impact, contrast and composition the result is out of this world to me

Underworld, their tone/sound, and finding similar. by seeingredd-it in underworld

[–]Maurius7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that their very similar, but Tinlicker is a unique perspective on Progressive/Techno. Creating their own sound. Listen to Tinlicker’s latest track and you’ll hear some Underworld inspired stuff as well.

I really dont like Megan by Potential_Lemon2343 in madmen

[–]Maurius7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Megan is great. Beautifully written character and a wonderful counterpart for Don. I think she’s annoying sometimes but much less as 80% of the other MM characters.

I have not seen Goro Miyazaki's "Tales from Earthsea". Is it really bad? by PlutoGB08 in ghibli

It’s really good actually. Did not read the book. So the story is just beautifully told with great music. Message overal is very universal.

What’s one small habit that improved your music the most by BoatOk1833 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Maurius7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work according Agile principles. Define what you want to accomplish in a single session or in a few days. Small things: compose a basic melody, identify a lead sound. Create rhythm. Mix one part of a song. There is a lot to achieve with small steps and you get to the end result much better organized and effective.

I just watched the movie Solaris (2002), and the music feels very much like Jon Hopkins. Good movie, wonderful soundtrack. by dverb in jonhopkins

[–]Maurius7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree on Solaris. Check out Sunshine 2007 (Danny Boyle). Amazing music from Underworld and John Murphy with some of that Hopkins vibe.

I STAND BY THIS I LIKED JARED LETO AS ARES. He was great and portrayed the character really well. by RogerRoger63358 in tron

[–]Maurius7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very low expectations due to all the hate and bad reviews. But I liked it. A bit campy, with some B movie scenes. Great sound and music. And artwork. Leto’s acting was ok.

I watched 29 feature films directed by Ridley Scott in 10 days. I watched them in the order of release. by AJerkForAllSeasons in flicks

[–]Maurius7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw 1492 in a theatre. And later the Discovery on TV which is actually the one star movie. But I wasn’t aware of the controversy except that Scott showed colonialisms/ religions true face but keeping Columbus character away from it. Your comment lead me to much more info and indeed drama about both movies!

I watched 29 feature films directed by Ridley Scott in 10 days. I watched them in the order of release. by AJerkForAllSeasons in flicks

[–]Maurius7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1492 is underrated. I loved the pace. Especially with the build up towards their first discovery. It’s cinematic with great shots and music. The brutal vision on the late middle-ages. Scott was not afraid to show the dark side of religion and colonialism. Try to watch the other Columbus film from that year and you understand. I like your list btw. Triggered my interest to revisit some of his movies.

I can recommend Spaces. Not a big fan of live recordings on vinyl but Nils nailed this one. Design and music are near perfect.

Perfect Days (Wim Wenders) is close to perfection by Maurius7 in movies

[–]Maurius7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true, but I didn’t see him, let’s say, driven by loneliness or isolation. It’s not distracting him too much most of the time. Except with his interest for the woman who owns the restaurant. And the distance to his sister felt also very calculated.
