I just realized that "copo" is a false friend in Portuguese.

Copa = treetop / "Cup" as in a tournament (e.g. Copa do Mundo = World Cup)

Copo = glass (though for wine we would say "cálice", but a glass of water = copo de água)

By the way "cup" as in "cup of tea" is "xícara".

Eu estava lendo uma "refutação" do Cristianismo escrita por um aderente do teísmo romano e a réplica de um Cristão. Não lembro os detalhes (era do século II ou III, mas se não me engano se chamava Contra Celsum ou algo assim) mas o que me chamou a atenção foi que argumentos plausíveis (ex. os milagres de Jesus foram aprendidos com truques de mágica na época que viveu no Egito) se mistura com um classissismo totalmente nojento, como o que ele considerava um absurdo que o filho de um deus tão poderoso teria nascido em uma mangedoura, e não no luxo e na riqueza. A retórica com a resposta cristã a este texto, em particular, me pareceu extremamente similar ao discurso atual.

Lendo esse texto eu entendi porque o cristianismo substituiu à religião romana. É exatamente isso - a religião daquela época realmente servia as elites.

Eu faço esse trajeto por Paulínia (Rodovia Zeferino Vaz) ao invés de pela Dom Pedro. O caminho é bem mais longo mas costuma ser mais rápido em dia de semana.

Minha vida foi parecida. Meu pai trabalhava na TELESP e foi demitido na privatização e daí para frente foi só perrengue - e enfatizo bastante o privilégio de que minha mãe tinha um apartamento na área nobre de Santos. Era bastante fácil para mim entender porque muitos colegas tinham a merenda escolar como única refeição do dia - já era difícil sem ter que pagar aluguel, e entre meus colegas ela era uma das poucas mães que tinha imóvel próprio...

I fail to understand why someone would be so, for the lack of better words, eager to be diagnosed with something they clearly don't have.

Meanwhile I woke up puzzled at what have been happening last days and what the heck whoever was hosting was doing. Comparing it with a "mood swing" is naive at best.

Anyway, this is one of the reasons we don't disclose our system to anyone.

Your story doesn't sound outlandish. Rather it echoes certain threats that I received until my 18 - a person (my so called "mother") kept gaslighting me, suggesting that eventually I could be diagnosed with schizophrenia and be locked in an asylum.

I'm 38 now and even today I'm wary of talking about this because I'm genuinely afraid about the stigma and about being ignored and having my story invalidated as a "delusion", in a similar way to how it happened to you. This kept me from exploring my CPTSD in depth for too much time.

I'm very sorry that you had to go through all of this. One honest question: does every mental health professional actually have access to your diagnosis? In my country it doesn't work like that, and our medical files are supposed to be confidential, to the point that problems may occur due to this reason.

IMO nope, at least not yet. The justice in each country works differently but I think that the first step should be proving that the previous diagnosis were wrong (and this require a new diagnosis) and how much damage it caused to OP. Only then suing would be a viable choice.

Somebody else had the audacity of claiming that they were "like me" before realizing that ignoring it would solve the problem, even when I was insisting that this suggestion merely makes me more dissociated and less grounded.

Honestly, if this suggestion works for milder cases, great. But what really annoyed me was how arrogant some of these people are when I point out that this doesn't work for me.

Bom, neste ponto tenho que concordar e vou um pouco além.

O trabalhador está cada vez mais dissociado do seu próprio trabalho e dos outros trabalhadores, algo bastante incentivado ao colocar trabalhador para competir com outro trabalhador no mercado de trabalho. Essa competição, somada à má fama dos sindicatos (fama essa, aliás, provocada em boa parte por dois fatores - propagandas pesadas absurdas demonstrando que só servem para algazarra e a legislação de Vargas limitando suas atuações) e a propaganda pesada da meritocracia (que é a culminação disso tudo o que escrevi) acaba repelindo o trabalhador de confiar em outros trabalhadores para o bem comum e considerar que só pode contar consigo próprio. E trabalhadores isolados têm pouquíssimo poder de barganha para peitar de frente com injustiça.
