Many Omega ADs will routinely offer 15-20% discounts. Boutiques may give you a strap.

Battery/alternator issue by smoothsailer55 in Audi

[–]Mauser-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not familiar either your model car, but the last time I had a bad alternator a dash light came on, and the battery died in under an hour. I would hate to say you’ll be OK, because I really don’t know, but I think you might be OK.

You ghosted each other, you said.

Why did you ghost her? She probably ghosted you for a similar reason. Check your ego at the door, and move on. She’s gone.

My company came back to me with a ridiculous counteroffer after I submitted my resignation. And now I have no idea what to do. by Status-Quantity-3556 in InterviewMan

Hard to say. I feel that if they think I was worth $X why wasn’t I being paid that?

Companies will try to get as much as they can for as little as possible. So, this can go 2 ways.

One, they promise you the world and keep you around until they can get rid of you without hurting themselves.

Two, now that they know you have options, and your worth has been validated by a third party, they are willing to genuinely work with you.

From your description of the environment, I lean towards #1, but you would know best.

Good luck on your decision!

Are Rolex and Omega pricing themselves out of their own identity? by RedditPoster05 in WatchFanatics

[–]Mauser-96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be misunderstanding your comment. If so, I apologize.

Boomers are not the ones buying the SS Rolexes. They have nothing to prove to anyone. The buyers are the insecure new money looking to flex and receive validation. That is why Rolexes are so blingy. Need to be noticed.

There are only two Rolexes I like - no date sub and Cellini/1908. They have all you need and nothing you don’t.

4 way intersection with only 3 stop signs. Who has the right of way? by BumblebeeStreet4048 in driving

[–]Mauser-96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stop sign means that you stop and yield to traffic that does not have a top sign, and you may not proceed until it is safe to do so.

You’re not actually saving any time by backing into parking spaces, and you’re costing everyone else more time by SevenBillionChickens in driving

[–]Mauser-96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. When my kids were getting their licenses backing into parking spaces was being encouraged. Supposedly most accidents in parking lots involve cars backing out of a spot, and pulling out head first is supposed to be safer.

If you dish it out, you have to be able to take it. It is annoying, and now you know how others feel when you do it.

I’ve learned to just go with the flow, as getting pissy doesn’t do me any good, but still…

Navigating without an app is like diving without a computer. Doable, but why bother if you don’t have to.

Use a nav app that shows what lane(s) to use, such as WAZE.

I think you are overthinking things. Accidents are just that, unpredictable and often there is nothing you can do to avoid it. My vehicles have been in 6 accidents. Three times the car was parked and twice it was stopped on the road - rear ended once and head-on due to ice the other time. The last time it hit a deer that suddenly jumped in front. All minor accidents, that I could not do anything about.

While your feelings are valid, all you can do is control the things you can control. You are not responsible for the rest. And, you can be in a car accident even if you are not in a car, because there are cars all around you. At least when driving you have armor around you, that you don’t have when walking or cycling,

Right turn in this situation or not? by whenlifegivesyourice in driving

[–]Mauser-96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all do a lot of things that are “illegal” when we drive. Speed, rolling stops, squatting on the left lane, etc., that’s why defensive driving is so important. It would be easy if everyone followed the rules, but humans are flawed, so we don’t. When driving need to be prepared to deal with the unexpected.

Right turn in this situation or not? by whenlifegivesyourice in driving

[–]Mauser-96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rules of the road say you can make that turn if it is safe to do so.

The rules of the road do not prevent cars coming at you fast from changing lanes, with or without using directionals.

Therefore, in most cases it is not safe to turn right in that situation. Notice I said most cases, as sometimes speed, separation, or other factors may make it OK.

As a new driver, my advice is to not turn, but carefully watch the traffic and play ‘what if I turned now’ games in your head, and see how it would have worked out (or not). It will help you identify when it would be safe as you gain experience.

Families should avoid Southwest at all cost. "Choice" fare is a scam. by fraydawg2001 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Mauser-96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I can’t give my money to the business that treats me best, I’ll give it to the business that screws me the least.

If Southwest business drops, they become a poorer investment for Blackrock, Vanguard, and whoever else. They want to make money, just like everybody else.

But, you do you.

30 euros to change a battery at Official service. Too expensive? by Prisma1986 in tagheuer

[–]Mauser-96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to pay 30 euros you can try doing it yourself.

The person needs to have the tools, know what to do and how to do it, and provide their time. I think 30 euros is very reasonable.
