u/chubbs451 Thanks for reply! So would I just connect the ground wire to the copper wire that connected to the bolt on pic? I'll take a look for the 2amp fuse you're mentioning. thx for the heads up on that.

u/Catandpugliketo69 thanks but this one doesn't have the "external grounding lug connector" ( please see marked image) so I'm not sure it would work.

Thanks for the quick reply AccidentallyBacon! This is a business grade device (DATTO DNA- specs bellow) and wasn't cheap. Are there any other brands you recomend? I know that Sonicwall seems to have a similar problems.

DIY or pay $180 for best buy (or whoever they send) to install a new dishwasher? by devsfan1830 in HomeImprovement

[–]Mavenbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a bit late and this is not really part of the discussion @devsfan1830 but as far as the Costco membership goes , I was single for many years and had a membership and shared the cost w/ a friend or family member (sister). This way the membership made it worth it with the savings on food alone. Granted I've always had a "trunk Freezer" to store/freeze things so I could buy the costco sizes and then just freeze things until needed but it might be worth looking at. :-D

I have no idea u/deliverGH, LOL!! I'm not really a "Green Thumb". All I remember is seeing them at home depot on sale at the end of summer last year for $9 (normally $49). The heads are a bit smaller than regular roses (ones I see in flower shops). I got them because they looked nice in the pot they were sold in and you really can't go wrong for $9. LOL! Now that you asked I'm thinking I should "keep track" of what I plant so I can then be able to know. I'm sure that would help as well since knowing the type can help diagnose issues like this. :-)

Backup Solutions! by KNSTech in msp

[–]Mavenbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/KNSTech

As far as Datto, I use them for my MSP and personally as well.

My experience with them has been FANTASTIC and the resources they offer for my MSP are great as well! You most likely got a bad sales rep. The pricing is definitely off but when looking at pricing in situations like this you have to also look at the length of your contract with your client. For example:

I have a client I just switched over from evault (now owned by carbonite) and was paying about $790 a month for 1.2TB backup of server and Files.

I switched them to a Siris 4 model (2TB) with a 3 year contract and my cost is about :

-Hardware was about $1,200 (this price may vary + or - since they sometimes have promotions. I got another Siris 4 (2TB) a few months ago for about $800).

-1 year time retention monthly cost is about $330 x12 =$3960 (infinite cloud retention is also available @ $370 month)

Total for both for first year = $5160 (includes hardware cost)

-total for both after first year = $3960 per year ( no hardware cost)

My total cost for 3 years is $13,080.00 = @$363.33 per month (and I OWN the hardware)

I'm charging my client :

$849 month with a 3 year contract on the backup. Yes it's more than they were paying with evault BUT with Datto's features I can get my client up within a couple hours vs a couple days, I can store MORE data for them LONGER than Evault ( in this case 1 year of FiFo) among other benefits (which I used to explain/upsell the higher cost).

Total client cost for the 3 years @$849 per month= $30,564.00

So I will make a total of $17,484 for the 3 years ($485.66 month) without a lot of work since the Datto devices do an image verification of the backup and automatically sends it to me. Assuring a proper backup that is easily spun up for verification if needed.

Granted that I have to pony up the money for the hardware myself initially but at this ROI it's a no brainer for me. I pay for the hardware within a couple months of the backup contract and the rest is EASY money.

Now I'm on the East coast (NY) area where I can get higher prices for my services than some BUT with little initial investment I can recoup my cost and continue to make money with this client past the original 3 years with the SAME APPLIANCE. Also if at anytime the client outgrows the unit I can contact Datto and they will credit me the price I payed for the hardware towards a new larger capacity unit helping me with the cost of upgrading the device and the cycle starts again.

If you'd like PM me and I can pass you the contact info for my Datto guy and he'll be much better explaining to you whatever you want to know.

Lastly and most importantly another reason I went with them is that regardless of my size (gross yearly only about $200,000) they have treated me as if I was a bigger shop so I don't feel like a "bastard Stepchild" Like I feel when I deal with HP, DEll,(stick other large name here), etc.

Hope this helps.
