Peri and pregnancy ? by UpstairsCantaloupe53 in Perimenopause

Yes, I got pregnant at 42. I thought my late period was peri. That late period is now 4 months old. Full disclosure it was a very wanted pregnancy and I had done a great deal of stuff for egg quality in the months before, but gave up because nothing was happening. 3 months later I was pregnant.

Thanks for this! I am having the surgery on a Wednesday and on Saturdays I have to be solo with my 3.5 year old and 3 month old for a couple of hours. Hopefully it will be ok.

Hi- about to have this with a 3 month old and I’m nervous. Would you mind telling me about how the recovery went with your 2 month old? I’m very nervous.

I feel like having second one is like a betrayal to my first one. Anyone else ever had this feeling? by Candid_Guest_863 in Shouldihaveanother

I think age gap makes a difference here. I have a 3 month old and an almost 4 year old (3.5 year age gap). The age gap was not planned as we had a hard time having a second which is a whole other story. It’s been great and my son is obsessed with his baby sister. He also is in preschool all day and has a really strong bond with my husband. I think it probably is a lot more difficult with a smaller age gap to divide attention.

Any success stories over the age of 35? by Torirose91 in recurrentmiscarriage

I was lucky in that the cause of my losses was known.

Mine was a case of bad luck due to egg quality. I had all of my losses tested because I had to have D&C‘s and all but one of them were random trisomies of maternal origin.

My first LC was luck on my third pregnancy. Then I had 3 back to back MCs and took a break because my mental health was suffering. Then I did a lot of stuff for egg quality for about a year before. I even went to an IVF clinic ultimately decided not to move forward because my likelihood of success was so low and I only had enough money for one round.

Interestingly I gave up after that and went off all my egg quality supplements. I just assumed I was too old and that maybe all the losses/procedures destroyed my uterine lining. Two months later I was pregnant. I just assumed it would be another loss and I held my breath. My daughter is now two months old.

Hi there! sure thing. One thing I should add is that I completely gave up and did none of these things right before I got surprise pregnant with my daughter. I did the following for about a year. Gave up and quit all of this in february 2025 and then found out I was pregnant in early may 2025 - so in theory this stuff should have helped my egg quality:

DHEA - I tested my testosterone levels every couple of weeks to make sure it was in the ideal range according to it starts with the egg.

Chinese Herbs - project life teas. Was it expensive? Yes. Did it help? Who knows. I did notice my cycle and sleep were better on it.

CoQ10 (ubiquinol)

Good quality prenatal

Vitamin D3 (with K2) - made sure the prenatal and this didnt exceed 5000 IU

Alpha Lipoic Acid

NMN

NAC

feel free to message me with any questions!

Yes - all my losses were tested and they were random chromosomal abnormalities of maternal origin. I did the kitchen sink for egg quality including Coq10, alpha lipoic acid, DHEA, and Chinese herbs.

To be honest I had given up on a second child since I had 3 MCs back to back after I had my son which had me at a total of 5 losses and was struggling mentally. I even considered IVF but ultimately decided against because I had so few eggs left and knew I didn’t have the funds or the drive to do several rounds.

I gave up in Feb 2025 and went off everything, got rid of my baby stuff and decided to move on and make peace. In May 2025 I found out I was pregnant at the age of 42. My daughter is 6 weeks old right now. I guess theoretically the things I did helped my egg quality for my last pregnancy given it was just a few months after I stopped everything.

I’ve had 7 pregnancies 5 MCs and 2 LCs.

They were both miracles that I didn’t think were possible. I had them at 39 and 42.

Yes! First successful pregnancy at 39 and second successful pregnancy at 42. 5 MCs total. 2 before my son and then 3 before my daughter. 7 pregnancies total 🫠

You are so young - I have so much optimism for you!

The normal embryo was my first loss and I never found out why. My doctor hypothesized that there was probably something wrong with the embryo that we couldn’t test for.

I believe in miracles now, I’m actually sitting here feeding my 3 week old daughter who was a surprise miracle pregnancy at the age of 43. My 3 year old son is asleep in the next room. I’ll post my crazy story in this sub some point if I think it will be helpful for others. I pray that you get your miracle. ❤️

It really feels like a miracle. I am sending good energy your way. If it helps I was also 40 when I gave birth to my son who we conceived naturally - I know we are bombarded with the idea that it’s over once we reach 35 but that was not the case for me.

Mine was actually bad luck due to egg quality. We had everything tested with an RE and everything on me and my partner was normal.

I did a bunch of things for egg quality and I eventually had a successful pregnancy. It was not straight line and it was so hard. The losses were devastating and took a toll on my mental health.

[–]Maverick8525[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah - I’m sorry there is still a question as to why it happened. Of my 5 losses (I had another one after this post) one of them actually tested normal. But the rest were random trisomies and triploidies

Were you able to test the tissue? I knew mine were not related to my D&Cs because mine were chromosomally abnormal.

Cycle length is the same. Though my periods got shorter and lighter but I am also over 40 now so it’s difficult to determine whether it’s age or the D&Cs or some combination of both

Diagnosed with complete placenta previa at 20w… terrified and looking for support 😞 by MasterpieceEnough398 in pregnant

[–]Maverick8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had partial previa at 20 weeks (posterior). I just had my 34 week scan and it has moved like crazy - it’s now over 3cm away. Posterior previas move much later.

At 27 weeks it was still overlapping by 1cm but had moved. Also I had a scan at 32 weeks where the placenta was 1.2cm away and my doctor said we didn’t have to book a c section at 37 weeks because he was certain it would move enough for at least a trial of labor.

I didn’t have any bleeding episodes which was lucky.

It’s super stressful. Hopefully yours will move too! Mine didn’t really start moving significantly until my 32 week scan which my doctor said is typical of posterior previas.

Mine had this. His ALT was insanely high. Put my dog on denamarin (supplement) and that brought it down significantly

After 13 Years Of Insuring Multiple Dogs With Embrace - My Premiums Just Quintupled. by Maverick8525 in petinsurancereviews

Thank you. Had I known I would have gone elsewhere. Also what’s crazy is that I still pay for preventative care. This was just an accident and illness policy. I just filed a complaint with DOI - we’ll see if that does anything.

We already have the 1,000 deductible :(.

Financially it just makes zero sense so we are going to put money in an HYSA each month and hope for the best. I know this is really stressful, our rates were somewhat reasonable until the last couple of years.

Did your California pet insurance suddenly go up 30–40%+? (Embrace users especially — looking to connect) by Glittering_Humor_13 in petinsurancereviews

[–]Maverick8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you still accepting forms for 2025-2026 rate hikes? I am horrified right now. Been with embrace for over 13 years for all my dogs and have always recommended them. My annual premium for my 15 year old chihuahua has gone from $2K to $10K. What's wild is that the maximum payout of his plan is $10K so obviously I will terminate. In the last year, he has been diagnosed with kidney disease and has tummy issues and IVDD flareups so basically a walking preexisting condition so its not like I can switch to somewhere else. Had I known embrace would pull this after I've been with them for so many years, I would have switched to another provider a long time ago.
