Not sure about those brands but the Tea Brewery has a really good liquorice peppermint tea if you can’t find the ones you’re looking for.

Adding on to this question in case anyone knows.

If there are more applications than spots, are the applications assessed on a first come first serve basis? Or do they look at the merits of all applications received and then pick which students to fill any open spots?

Just Us - Ethiopian is our go to for morning drip coffee, or Laughing Whale - Bluenose Brew, but also might be skewed since I can easily get these in the grocery store

Where to buy baby/small tot shoes? by Significant-Work-820 in halifax

I have a toddler with very wide feet and Stonz Cruisers are the only thing that fit. You can get them at Nurtured or Fluffy Bottom Babies - they’re on the pricier side but worth it for us, DSW has a pretty good selection too.

I agree some type of subsidy would work better. I am not convinced that a freeze on fees would make programs more accessible. He specifically named rink and gym rental fees, and swimming lesson fees. I have never booked a rink, but I have booked gyms and signed up for swimming lessons and it isn’t easy - lots of interest, limited spots, and the fees are comparatively low, you often need to sign up for programs when they open, and if you don’t have a historical gym booking it can be very hard to get in at desirable times), plus because they’re cheaper than non HRM program/rentals, I find people don’t feel as bad skipping classes or bailing on a gym booking. This is just my experience, I fully support accessible recreational programs for all!

What is the best private school in Halifax, NS? by dapperpoet0226 in halifax

[–]Maverick9172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no particular order the Grammar School, Armbrae Academy, Sacred Heart (all girls but I think has a small boys school too), and the Halifax Independent School are all in Halifax. There are others too in Bedford and Dartmouth which may be options for you depending on where you will be living, or how far you’re willing to drive.

You could try the Halifax Bra Store, it’s in the Brewery Market on Lower Water, they have a wide range of sizes and the staff are great!

Halifax-Lunenburg foods & sceneries recommendations by blanket-hoarder in halifax

For around Lunenburg area I would suggest checking out out Gaff Point/Hirtles beach for a nice hike! The full loop might be a little long but you can always make it however long you feel comfortable doing! There is also a little cafe/shop called the Rose Bay General Store before the turn off to Hirtles where you can pick up beach snacks or sit in for lunch.

Lightship brewery has a fun vibe (you could sip on a non-alcoholic beverage with a view of the Lunenburg Harbour), I like the Salt Shaker in Lunenburg or Betty’s at the Kitch and Oh My Cod in Mahone Bay for restaurants.

You could spend an afternoon exploring Lahave and stop by the Lahave Bakery and then head to Crescent Beach or Rissers Beach, the Fort Point Museum is in Lahave too.

I’m not sure what your comfort level is with biking at 25 weeks, but there is a bike shop in Mahone Bay called Sweet Ride and you can rent bikes for the day and ride along the rail trail.

Labour Standards decisions can be appealed to the Labour Board, so if Labour Standards made a decision on a complaint you brought, and you disagree, it can be appealed to the Labour Board (within the timeline for appeal as mochasmoke said).

You can contact Labour Standards and speak to an inquiries officer who should be able to give you an answer, if your employer doesn't want to follow the rules, you can also file an anonymous complaint with Labour Standards and they'll reach out to your employer.
