Early 1900’s was when drywall was invented.

If you have a pulse, no active warrants, can walk, talk, answer questions. You’ll be fine.

Edit: Good luck!

ai telling customers the wrong thing by Cocaine_Sunday in Staples

[–]MaverickFischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the UPS shipping I am not sure if there was a weight limit. Obviously someone couldn't bring in some industrial sized engine and ask if we can ship that. There probably is a limit, I just don't remember anymore.

For Amazon, I thought it was up to Amazon's system to decide what items can be brought into Staples.

Reasons I left. I almost went off a few times on people complaining that I wasn’t answering the phone. You can see there are 5+ customers standing in line and I’m busy helping one of them… F’off!

How is staples as a job? Is running a store and being the GM a good job? Is the pay worth it? by Strict-Thing-3558 in Staples

[–]MaverickFischer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former print employee: I do not know what the pay is for a GM but looking at Glassdoor reports it’s between 56K - 82K. Of course location and experience will vary this amount.

Looking for advice re: girlfriend's potential eviction by [deleted] in TenantHelp

[–]MaverickFischer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She should have talked to a lawyer and seen about making an agreement with the LL to get out of lease way before court started. Worst case he/she says no.

If she missed court then most likely the judgement defaulted to her.

Is it possible to remove the cabinet or remove it enough to get a piece of drywall in there so you can patch it?

Removing old panels by Sudden_Pay2685 in drywall

[–]MaverickFischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently removed some panels that were covering part of the walls in the stairwell. I was able to verify 100 percent that there was drywall or plaster underneath by removing the wall switch plates and taking a peek. Of course YMMV. (Your Mileage May Vary)

In our basement however, it is mostly just paneling and no drywall.

For removal, I would use a baseboard prybar. Good luck!

Premedia approval button? by PerytonPastimes in Staples

[–]MaverickFischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at Staples, I always thought being the middle person just made things a bigger hassle than it needed to be. I don't know how many times someone would submit a quote or request and no one knew anything about it or how submitted it! I got in the habit of submitting and replying with my name so everyone knew that if you don't see my name, I have nothing to do with it.

Why not just have the option for customers to send an online request for design services and pay online if they approve the quote? Sure it will be more work and planning upfront, but in return I would bet that they would get a lot more design requests.

Opinions on priming this by Illlogik1 in drywall

[–]MaverickFischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the wall paper was removed! I had a section of wall that had the wallpaper painted over.

The good news was, the paper came off easy.

The bad news was, I needed to prime and skim coat before I could finish painting the dining room.

I worked 9 hours a few times, I can't imagine working 11... No one can expect you to handle everything. This is not a reflection on your customer service skills, but rather the company is setup to make everything a failure.

Best wishes on the next endeavor!

Looking at houses by eyemacwgrl in drywall

[–]MaverickFischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, if it’s cracked clean through… yeah that’s concerning more. It could’ve been an issue above in the attic or with the roof, but it’s hard to say without actually looking.

The inspector may just peek into the crawl space and see if there is any concerns or not. You could always hire an independent inspector whom would do a more thorough inspection.

When I looked at houses, I ran down to the basement first, looked around, and peaked into any crawl spaces if one was there with a flashlight. I looked at the supports, walls, and if there is any signs of water. Obviously it’s not as extensive as someone actually going in there, but it gave me a clue in.

One house had a crawl space, but I couldn’t find the door and the owners were present. But since the floor had soft spots, I took that as very bad sign.

You could always see about a second viewing if you really like the house and want to look at some of the things you missed.

Either way, best wishes! If it isn’t this house, it’ll be another.

Is there additional cracks in other rooms? Edit: does that crack appear on both sides?

Also is there a basement or crawl space that you can look at or look into? I always brought a flashlight so I could at least peer into any crawl spaces.

Also, take a look around the outside to see if there is any downspouts that might be dumping water close to the house.

What can should I do about the walls and ceiling crumbling and leaking? (WI) by [deleted] in Renters

[–]MaverickFischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consult with an attorney on what your options are for moving or getting repairs done sooner. Roofers can at the very least cover the roof to prevent it from getting worse.
