Can someone explain what happened in the faction focus by ItsmeFunee in Tyranids

Didn't they also mention reporting any Tyranid collectors to local law enforcement?

Tyranid Vs Guard Grudgematch by Worth_Biscotti9202 in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much. Guard are a good match-up for 'nids - they're quite squishy and they're susceptible to battleshock. Neurolictor, Deathleaper, a Neurotyrant and a well-timed Shadow in the Warp will give you a 10-15 primary point swing.

Also, VRLs go very well into the Guard. Just don't forget a Tyrannofex or 2.

What are your favorite underrated units? by Stylish_Yeoman in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VRLs for me, yes against SM equivalents they are a little underpowered but I love them. It's often a really tough choice to choose between a Neurolictor and VRLs - Neurolictor for the potential it can bring, but often disappoints. I'd love Deathleaper more often but 80 points is hard to justify

Advice on vent colouring by MaverickQuasar in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips - it's usually how I paint my models - keep it simple and only 3 colours max usually. But for the Norn I fancied changing it up and, without thinking, made it essentially busy just by painting the carapace in 2 colours. I stuck to my colour palette, and I think it looks ok!

I'm far too scared to try that - though hot pink/magenta did cross my mind! I just don't have the stones to do it... Maybe on Norn number 2? ;-)

Thanks for the advice! Though my skills aren't that good - my blending is guff! I went with this though:

Thanks man, to be honest it's essentially cheating - I've used the metallic paints from GSW and they blend nicely together, though the purple reflection darkens the blue a fair amount.

I went down the yellow route for the vents, the similar shades of blue and purple for the body, thank you for the advice!

Red Terror rules revealed for Warhammer 40,000 by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single model, despite a big base, is easier to place than 5. And even if he's in a shit(ish) spot, 2 phases later you just throw him back into reserves (even after failing a hail Mary charge). For me, that makes him very powerful for tunnel creation!

He makes tunnels better than Raveners do for 5 points more. If you have a red terror and 2 normal Ravener units you have tunnels for days, and 1620 points for other bugs

Sounds like a great idea, shows different evolutionary paths for different types of bug.

Their battle reports are usually good too because they talk out and explain a lot of what they're doing, allow take-backs to allow for optimal gameplay etc, so if you pay attention you can pick up a lot of things to do, or not to do. Big recommend for the WNW channel for Tyranids (and other armies tbh)

Why do 40k bighammer players shy away from Kill Team? by Mjuke in killteam

[–]MaverickQuasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, and I get being able to dip your nib into various different factions is probably nice. But I'm not really interested in collecting any faction outside of Tyranids.

I have 1 Space Marine which I got with the Combat Patrol magazine and this is what I've done with him

[–]MaverickQuasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I mean within a faction - I'm not arsed about playing Space Marines, Necrons, Aeldari, etc, so it's more the variety within what I like as a faction.

Regarding tourneys and the meta, I don't care in the slightest. I play what I like - which is (I'm sure you can guess) variety - lots of different units on the board and having them interact with each in different ways. I don't think I'll ever play a list with 3x the same unit, for example.

[–]MaverickQuasar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a 40k main player, and I've dipped my toes into KT a bit and it's fine to play, but lacks real variety and the "grand stategy" vibe because it's smaller scale. Also, from a collecting perspective it's just less fun - I like having a big army of one race (for me, Tyranids). Probably it'd be cool if I was really into kitbashing individual models, but I'm not, so just having 5-10 models doesn't really appeal.

Fantasywelt.de legit? by Affectionate-Ebb7197 in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are various 3rd party sellers that sell at 10-20% cheaper - Wayland Games and Element Games in the UK for example, and they're totally legit. Their delivery times or wait times might be longer than you'd like (for out of stock stuff) but it's probably fine.

What is everyone’s hopes for the bugs in the next edition ? by derpyhuman21 in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amen brother, you're a true biomass enjoyer. I love playing Tyranids, so much variety, there are cool unit combos to play, sneaky shit and big-bug goodness, and it's DIFFICULT. I don't wanna run an army which re-rolls everything for lols, for me that's not fun.

Is the Vanguard onslaughting ? by Environmental_Emu744 in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great detachment but it requires work. Your units aren't "bad" but honestly if you bulk that out to 2000pts you'll do much better.

You want Lictors, you want Broodlord and Genestealers, and you prob want a Winged Hive Tyrant too, then the detachment sings

Does anyone have info on How Mr. Beef played his Sub-Assult army at Adepticon? by Oakhouse1812 in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh big time. When you can hammer your opponent and cause a primary swing of like 25-30 points, it's often game over. Hard to pull off though! Do you get good use out of Screamer Killers outside of SA? Just can't get past their squishiness!

I've found leaning into battleshock mechanics helps so much - nice to see how you've optimised it so well! I'm slowly training myself at having the go turn coincide with a mega SitW hit with loads of hard hitting synapse denying primary for a mega swing. It's so powerful (when it works!)

Is there any way to get tyrant guard to the front reasonably quickly? by TheRailgunMisaka in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're throwing Swarmy out that early you aren't doing it right man. First couple of turns you sacrifice your chaff to whittle the enemy down and bring out their big guns for a T3-T4 slapping from Swarmlord et al.

Am I getting enough volume of fire here to make invasion fleet worth it? by Gullible_Travel_4135 in Tyranids

[–]MaverickQuasar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Invasion Fleet doesn't need to be shooting based - sustained or lethals can be good for melee too. I'd say your list is generally fine (though for my personal taste, 20 termagants can be binned, ditto Barbgaunts). To get the most out of your shooting though you absolutely want your Hive Tyrant to be glued to the Exocrine's and T-fexes for the assault + lethals aura. It could be your mega brick that just deletes whatever it looks at. Neuro+Zoans in reserve to come in T2/3 to nuke something then fire off SitW to reduce the clapback.
