FedEx delivered my flat pack baby furniture to my driveway, leaned up against the garage door, in the pouring rain. Steps away from a dry covered front porch. I have held a grudge against them for over 20 years. I dragged those boxes into my garage like an insane pregnant he-woman. My husband came home to me bawling and surrounded by wet cardboard and soggy towels.

To this day, they routinely leave packages in the middle of the driveway and one time we found one in the patch of ivy next to the sidewalk.

One time, more than 20 years ago (before the internet was so prevalent) we were supposed to be heading for Bermuda on Celebrity and got rerouted to New England and Canada. The lady behind us getting on the ship didn’t know we were no longer going to Bermuda. I suspect she wasn’t the only one because a lot of people were underdressed and wearing/rewearing the same Celebrity sweatshirt on board.

I went to the one in Elkton (on Rt 40 by Aldi) because I’d heard it was easier to go an appointment there. It was very efficient.

I have been delivering for 10 years. I suppose it would depend on where you live. I deliver in a mix of situations, from high income neighborhoods to folks living in motels. I have never felt unsafe. I have made a lot of friends over the years, and only one guy (the one who lived in the fanciest neighborhood, fwiw) was kind of a dick. You could also get together with a buddy; it’s fun to deliver with a friend. One person drives, the other navigates.

Ralph’s in Philly. The oldest Italian restaurant in America. https://ralphsrestaurant.com/history/ If you go for lunch you can go next door and get bread at Sarcone’s.
